Job Description

Kanadevia Inova (KVI) is a global market leader in energy from waste (EfW) and renewable gas. KVI acts as an engineering, procurement and construction contractor and project developer, delivering complete turnkey plants and system solutions for thermal and biological EfW recovery. KVI’s Service Group combines its own research and development with comprehensive manufacturing and erection capabilities to support our clients throughout the entire life cycle of their plant.

  • Provide mechanical engineering support to proposal and project teams for planning, design, execution, and commissioning of HZI products including Anaerobic Digestion, Power to Gas, Waste Fuel Boilers, and Flue Gas Treatment systems.
  • Perform equipment sizing calculations and prepare mechanical documentation including Equipment Specifications, Datasheets, Sizing Calculations, Equipment Lists, and P&IDs to support proposals, RFQs, and procurement activities.
  • Execute mechanical engineering scope on complex FEED, EP, EPC, and BOO projects while ensuring designs comply with HZI Standards, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical quality of mechanical engineering deliverables within agreed-upon budgets and schedules.
  • Support Business Development and Sales with presentations, technical documentation, and ITB deliverables.
  • Participate in Plot Plan, 3D Model, P&ID, and safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP/SIL) for proposals and projects.
  • Facilitate technical discussions with customers, business partners, suppliers, and internal departments to support engineering decisions and resolve complex multi-disciplinary issues.
  • Identify and recommend cost and schedule improvement opportunities, presenting fact-based recommendations for evaluation.
  • Maintain and adapt the mechanical and piping knowledge base for HZI products to comply with North American market requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with work instructions, standard practices, policies, and quality standards throughout all engineering activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; EIT/PE registration or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for complex industrial systems, including proposal development and project execution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in equipment sizing calculations and preparation of mechanical documentation (specifications, datasheets, P&IDs, equipment lists) for RFQ and procurement activities.
  • Proven experience in process system optimization, performance improvement, and cost/utility reduction initiatives.
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries: Renewable Energy, Gas Processing, Chemical, Power, Waste Management, or Environmental Control/Air Quality Systems.
  • On-site construction, installation, start-up, and commissioning experience preferred.
  • Strong track record as a contributor to successful industrial proposals and projects of varying scale.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently required to talk or hear, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
