Job Description

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng. or B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university with an accredited degree strongly preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of post-graduate mechanical engineering experience in building construction, with at least 4 of those years spent on healthcare facility projects (hospitals, surgical centres, clinical laboratories, or specialist clinics).
• Demonstrated experience reviewing or producing HVAC, medical gas, and plumbing/drainage shop drawings and submittals in a client-side, PMC, or supervisory role.
• Working knowledge of UAE MEP code requirements, UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, and at least one international healthcare MEP standard (HTM, NFPA 99, or ASHRAE 170).
• Competent user of AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit; able to navigate federated BIM models for clash review without specialist BIM support.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; ability to produce clear, precise technical comments and formal correspondence without ambiguity.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Technical Skills
• HVAC system design and commissioning: air handling, ductwork, chillers, cooling towers, fan coil units, VRF, and specialist healthcare ventilation.
• Medical gas pipeline systems: oxygen, medical air, nitrous oxide, vacuum, AGSS design, installation sequence, and commissioning protocols.
• Hydronic systems: chilled water, hot water heating, condenser water, primary/secondary pumping arrangements, variable flow.
• Pump and fan selection verification: duty/standby arrangement, affinity laws, system resistance curves.
• Air change rate verification for clinical spaces per ASHRAE 170, HTM 03-01, and UAE regulatory requirements.
• Pressure differential cascade design and verification for isolation, operating, and clean rooms.
• Filtration media selection and validation: HEPA, ULPA, pre-filter, and bag filter grades for healthcare spaces.
• Fire and smoke control: smoke extract, pressurization systems, fire damper schedules, and interlocking logic review.
• Software: AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit (Mechanical), Navisworks, MS Excel (engineering calculations), MS Project.
