Senior Mechanical Engineer

Key Performance Areas

Product Industrialization

• Participate in in-process reviews and design inputs with the R&D team

• Investigate and fault-find existing and new designs

• Conduct mechanical and thermal simulations

• Test and qualify products to international standards:

  • Design and develop test methods

  • Draft product design and qualification specifications

  • Provide design inputs to meet specifications

• Improve existing designs to reduce manufacturing costs

• Provide production support (assembly, test instructions, training)

• Develop production/test equipment and documentation for:

  • New product tooling

  • Quality verification for new/current products

• Liaise with local and Chinese suppliers

Research Responsibilities

• Investigate new product technologies, components, and solutions

Product Development and Deployment

• Meet with management/team to assess:

  • Timelines

  • Product design

  • Product/document configuration

  • Budgets

• Assist design team with:

  • Deployment, production, implementation at third-party providers

  • Manufacturing and field support

Administration and Reporting

• Complete general correspondence and admin accurately and on time

• Manage email, inbox, and data efficiently

• Maintain professional communication

• Complete all reports accurately and on time

• Draft, maintain, and adhere to SOPs and department processes

• Supply statistics/information as requested

Requirements, Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum Qualification B.Eng (Mechanical)

• Experience 5+ years in:

  • Conceptualizing and solving design challenges

  • Proficient use of:

    • SolidWorks

    • Microsoft Office (compulsory)

    • Adobe Creative Cloud (advantageous)

    • Simulation software (mechanical/thermal)

  • Sketching, 3D rendering, technical drawing

  • Design in plastic fabrication, sheet-metal, injection molding, extrusion, vacuum forming, printing

  • Creating efficient, feasible, cost-effective designs

  • Creating assemblies and manufacturing drawings per standards

  • Producing specs, BOMs, engineering/configuration changes, manuals

  • Issuing revisions/updates to drawings and materials lists

  • Customer interfacing and requirement analysis (advantageous)

  • Technical support during manufacturing

Highly Advantageous Additional Experience
