Job Description

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who will be responsible for leading mechanical design and development of power supply products, from concept through prototype, qualification, production and sustaining. The engineer should be technically strong, able to solve complex mechanical problems, and capable of providing technical leadership to other engineers.

Reporting to Mechanical Manager or NPD Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with Design Team, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers to develop robust mechanical solutions from product development through mass production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead mechanical architecture and detailed design of power supply enclosures, chassis, and sub-assemblies for compact or high-power-density form factors, modify existing designs, improve existing products for better performance and /or cost.
  • Perform thermal and structural simulations software such as SolidWorks Flow Simulation (CFD) and SolidWorks Simulation (Static, Frequency, Fatigue, Non-linear) to ensure field reliability.
  • Co-ordinate with electrical/hardware engineers to optimize PCB placement, Safety creepage & clearance, EMI/EMC shielding, and cabling.
  • Generate detailed mechanical layouts of assemblies, PCB design, and fabricated parts and assembly drawings.
  • Knowledge in Bill of materials (BOM) creation and documentation.
  • Review product verification and validation test such as mechanical performance, thermal, shock and vibration, drop test, evaluations of switching mode power during the development stage.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, stack-up analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) assessments.
  • Strong experience managing ECR, ECO, ECN, deviation, waiver, and product release workflows.
  • Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company procedures, safety, and other agency requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in design, sustaining, manufacturing, or testing on industrial or commercial products with thermal management.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical parts and materials, their classifications and naming conventions, operating characteristics and application specialties, practical limitations, and constraints, especially on metals, plastics, adhesives, tapes, etc.
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing processes and methods, equipment & instruments in Lab or production, industrial practices. BOM creation, Engineering change order and norms, etc.
  • Proven skills in qualifying, testing, troubleshooting mechanical parts and materials.
  • Proficient in English, be able to travel if required.
  • Conversant at MCAD tools with SolidWorks and AUTOCAD required
  • Familiarity with Altium PCB software (ECAD) is an added advantage.
  • Experience in project management, quality & reliability control, supplier engagement, and multi-team collaboration is highly desirable.
  • Familiar with SAP, Microsoft 365 - Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, SharePoint. Experience in Power Platform is a strong plus.
  • Result-driven, detail-oriented, and passionate for continuous improvements
  • Good Technical writing capability and communication skills
