Job Description

Senior Mechanical Construction Project Manager - Healthcare

West Metro | $102,000–$135,000 Base + Incentives | Direct Hire | Onsite / Jobsite-Focused

This Senior Project Manager opportunity sits within a dedicated Healthcare Division supporting some of the most technically demanding mechanical construction environments in the region. The team delivers systems designed for mission-critical healthcare spaces—operating rooms, imaging suites, clinics, and hospital infrastructure—where precision, safety, and reliability are non-negotiable. Senior Project Managers act as true business owners, leading client relationships, guiding project teams, and driving both execution and revenue growth. With a deep backlog of healthcare work and a strong incentive structure tied to performance, this role is well suited for experienced mechanical PMs who thrive in complex, regulated environments and want long-term stability paired with upside.

Senior Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle delivery of healthcare mechanical construction projects, including plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems in hospitals and clinical environments.
  • Own and grow client, owner, and general contractor relationships while identifying and pursuing future healthcare project opportunities.
  • Manage and mentor Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, setting expectations for performance, accountability, and professional development.
  • Oversee project financials, including budgeting, estimating support, change order pricing, and margin management.
  • Ensure safe execution in active healthcare environments by planning for infection control, specialized safety requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Apply deep technical knowledge of healthcare mechanical systems to solve complex design and constructability challenges.

Senior Project Manager Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of progressive project management experience in mechanical contracting, with specialization across plumbing, piping, and sheet metal.
  • At least five years of experience managing healthcare construction projects such as hospitals, clinics, operating rooms, or similar regulated facilities.
  • Strong client-facing and business development capabilities, including proposal leadership and relationship-driven work acquisition.
  • Demonstrated success leading PM/APM teams and coordinating closely with foremen and field crews in live healthcare environments.
  • Healthcare construction certification or equivalent healthcare project experience strongly preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with a performance-driven incentive structure tied to margin and new healthcare work.
  • 401(k) with company match, profit sharing, and employee stock purchase plan participation.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and relocation assistance where applicable.
  • Long-term career growth supported by internal training programs and leadership development.

About Konik

Company History:

As a leading technical staffing agency in the Midwest, Konik makes the hiring process more personal by forming true connections and treating everyone like family—a value imparted by our founders and instilled in every team member.

Konik was incorporated in 1974 by George Konik , who was a degreed Electrical Engineer. In June 2000, George sold the company to his son, Brad Konik, who is now President. George’s love of hockey was passed down to his son.

Tom Goettl returned to the company in 2009 as Vice President and part-owner. After working with George and Brad previously, he strongly believed in the reputation and future of the company.

In 2016, the company acquired PrimeStaff, another highly reputable technical staffing agency, founded by Kathy Carlsen and Troy Harper. As a result of this merger, the company became Konik Primestaff.

Our rebranded company now bears the name Konik, and we continue to be a leading technical staffing agency in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and Midwest. Our founders values of integrity, sincerity, honesty, and follow-through guide us in creating relationships that go beyond professional transactions—connecting our partners with top talent in architecture, engineering, and manufacturing.
