  • Develop and implement corrosion management strategies, including cathodic protection, coatings, and inhibitors.
  • Provide guidance on material and coating compatibility with fluids and gases handled by the system.
  • Design and implement asset integrity programs, including risk-based inspection (RBI), failure mode, and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for material failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations on fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments for aging assets.
  • Ensure compliance with international codes and standards such as NACE, ASME, API, ISO, and ASTM.
  • Maintain familiarity with regional and client-specific requirements.
  • Provide support to FEED, detailed engineering, and EPC phases for material and corrosion-related aspects.
  • Collaborate with Process, Mechanical, and Piping disciplines to integrate corrosion control measures into design deliverables.
  • Review and approve material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor documents.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  • Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
  • Certification in NACE (e.g., CIP Level 3, CP Technologist, or Corrosion Specialist) or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage

Industry Specific Experience:

  • Experience in materials and corrosion engineering, with significant exposure to offshore and onshore oil and gas projects.
  • Proven track record in FEED, detailed design, and EPC phases.
  • Familiarity with LNG, FPSO, and subsea systems is advantageous.
  • Deep knowledge of material properties, corrosion mechanisms, and mitigation techniques.
  • Proficiency in using corrosion modeling software (e.g., ECE, NORSOK, or equivalent).
  • Experience with cathodic protection design, including impressed current and sacrificial anode systems.
  • Strong understanding of welding and fabrication processes and their impact on material integrity.

Software and Tools:

  • Proficiency in engineering design tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent for stress analysis of materials.
  • Familiarity with tools for RBI and integrity management (e.g., DNV Synergi, API RBI).
