Job Description

Zondervan Books is seeking a Senior Title Marketing Manager to lead integrated marketing campaigns for key frontlist titles and select backlist opportunities.

The ideal candidate combines the strategic and relationship skills of an experienced title marketer with the instincts of a modern content marketer. This person knows how to identify the audiences most likely to resonate with a book’s underlying felt need, find the ideas and stories within a book that will capture attention, and translate those insights into marketing that builds audience, generates demand, and drives sales.

This role works closely with authors, editorial, publicity, digital marketing, creative, sales, and retail partners and requires equal strength in campaign strategy, content and audience development, digital marketing, creative judgment, and author relationships.

Our preference is to fill this position in Nashville, TN but we are also open to qualified candidates that are located outside of the Nashville area. Travel may be required based on the need of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Own integrated marketing campaigns for assigned authors and titles, from positioning and audience strategy through launch, optimization, and long-term sales opportunities.
  • Turn books into compelling marketing ideas, translating manuscripts, chapters, interviews, and author expertise into consumer-facing messaging, content, and creative concepts.
  • Develop audience-first content strategies that meet readers where they already spend time and adapt ideas for platforms including Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Meta, email, search, podcasts, and emerging channels.
  • Partner with digital and creative teams to develop effective content and assets for different audiences, platforms, and stages of the consumer journey.
  • Test and learn, using hooks, messaging, creative approaches, audience response, and campaign data to continually improve marketing effectiveness and investment.
  • Apply strong digital marketing fluency across social, search, email, paid media, retail marketing, analytics, and evolving consumer behaviors and platforms.
  • Lead creative development for assigned campaigns, ensuring marketing is distinctive, audience-focused, and true to the author and book.
  • Serve as a trusted marketing partner to authors and their teams, communicating strategy, expectations, opportunities, progress, and results.
  • Manage multiple high-priority titles and initiatives while maintaining strong collaboration, communication, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Extend successful campaigns beyond launch, identifying opportunities to grow backlist sales, author platforms, and scalable content opportunities across the Zondervan Books list

Qualifications

Work Experience: 5–7+ years of experience in book marketing, consumer marketing, digital marketing, content marketing, publicity, or a related field.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Publicity, English, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Industry Knowledge: Book publishing experience, experience marketing nonfiction and/or to Christian audiences, and experience using AI within marketing workflows are preferred.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Strong instincts for audience, positioning, consumer messaging, content, and creative strategy
  • Fluency in digital marketing, social platforms, paid media, email, search, retail marketing, and analytics.
  • Experience using performance data and testing to make better marketing decisions.
  • Strong communication and relationship-management skills, including experience working with authors, clients, talent, creators, or other external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects, priorities, budgets, and stakeholders.
  • Curiosity about changing consumer behavior, digital platforms, AI, and emerging marketing opportunities.
