Job Description

Reporting to the VP of Digital Customer Experience for the Performance Coatings Group (PCG), the Senior Director of Digital Marketing Strategy will lead the transformation of PCG’s digital and marketing capabilities across our industrial divisions. This role combines strategic leadership in digital customer experience, eCommerce, marketing technology, and Web CMS with operational oversight of shared services, and digital platform governance. The Senior Director will be highly influential driving measurable outcomes with internal and external customer satisfaction, new whitespace opportunities, and digital engagement by aligning cross-functional teams across Marketing, IT, Operations, Sales and Finance. This digital leader will bring an AI-first mindset, helping the digital marketing organization responsibly identify, prioritize, and scale AI-enabled ways of working that improve customer experience, marketing effectiveness, team productivity, and business impact.

Additional Details:

  • This position will require at least 20% travel.
  • This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report Sherwin-Williams Cleveland Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44115

Digital Strategy & Customer Experience

  • Lead the definition, prioritization and governance of a multi-year digital roadmap tied to business goals, customer experience and global scalability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across business units and IT to build the best possible experience for existing and prospective customers.
  • Champion an AI-first mindset across the digital organization by identifying practical AI use cases, enabling responsible adoption, and guiding teams through new ways of working in partnership with the centralized AI teams.
  • Define the digital marketing and customer experience success criteria and metrics and aligns them with the Group's strategic goals.
  • Work in partnership with IT to ensure that the organization has the right portfolio of tools to deliver the marketing strategy and meet the business goals.
  • Articulate and champion the digital vision and strategy across internal stakeholders to support and ensure the alignment, budget, and change management required to create and sustain PCG wide digital marketing capabilities.

Leadership & Operational Planning

  • Act as a transformation champion, aligning cross-functional stakeholders across Sales, IT, Marketing, Operations, Infrastructure, and Finance to shared digital outcomes.
  • Manage the business team responsible for PCG website strategy, Operations and UX
  • Research, Build and Present business cases linking to digital investment to ROI.
  • Lead governance and steering committees to prioritize initiatives, allocate resources and ensure alignment with goals.
  • Act as a persuasive communicator and change agent, securing executive buy-in and driving adoption of new tools, platforms and processes
  • Promote transparency, shared learning, and cross-team alignment through regular communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Websites

  • Lead strategy and prioritization program to rationalize, consolidate or update Sherwin branded and private label websites across the globe.
  • Oversee launch of planned website experiences
  • Manage Agency relationships, timelines, and project management
  • Ensure a consistent branding message and alignment through VOC research and insights
  • Ensure compliance, security, and privacy across digital platforms.

Digital Tools & Innovation

  • Lead strategy and scaling of customer-facing digital tools that enhance workflows and productivity. Integrate digital tools across websites, eCommerce, CRM, and data platforms.
  • Design and manage a connected Martech architecture that powers personalized and automated customer engagement.
  • Leverage AI and automation to improve business outcomes. Drive innovation from concept to scaled impact.

Ecommerce & Digital Self Service Tools

  • Drive the Global eCommerce Strategy for Industrial businesses through discovery and unlocking new fulfillment models.
  • Build the strategic roadmap to implement and maintain scalable and reusable capabilities to support multiple businesses, segments, and regions.
  • Establish and implement a customer segmentation model that shifts lower-volume customers to digital-first engagement, enabling Sales to focus on high-potential relationships.

Build and develop a high performing digital team through selecting, hiring, planning, and developing individuals to enhance their job performance. This supports our goals of creating a high-performance culture and increasing global focus.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have a Master’s degree in business, marketing, MIS, communications, or related field.
  • Must have at least fifteen (15) or more years of digital marketing, ecommerce & technology leadership experience leading cross functional teams and large complex programs
  • Must have at least one (1) year experience in digital marketing, Digital Customer Experience in B2B
  • Must have a deep understanding of the evolving digital marketing and MarTech and AI landscape
  • Must have at least one (1) year experience with AEM and or Adobe tools, Shopify, Ecommerce technology is preferred
  • Must have at least one (1) year experience with Microsoft Office products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have experience in the coatings industry
