Lead marketing strategy that drives growth, reputation and impact.

At Sanctuary Care and Sanctuary Supported Living, marketing plays a critical role in how we grow, compete and connect with the people who need our services. From shaping brand reputation and customer experience to generating quality self-funder enquiries and supporting occupancy across our care homes, alongside customer engagement across our wider services, our marketing and communications activity has a direct impact on commercial performance and the communities we serve.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Marketing and Communications Manager to set the strategic direction for marketing across our Commercial arm, leading integrated activity that strengthens our brand, improves self-funder enquiry generation and conversion for care, and supports sustainable growth across a national portfolio of care homes and services.

This is a senior, commercially focused role, working closely with directors, operational leaders and specialist teams to turn insight into action. You’ll lead a multi-disciplinary marketing and communications team, oversee agency partnerships and ensure our activity is targeted, creative, measurable and aligned to business priorities.

We're proud to be a not-for-profit organisation, meaning every pound we generate is reinvested into our services, colleagues and customers. When you join us, you'll be part of an organisation where your expertise can make a genuine difference.

Drive self-funder enquiry generation, conversion and occupancy for care homes through integrated, insight-led marketing plans across digital, print, PR, social media, reviews, email, advertising and local engagement channels

  • Lead brand, reputation and customer communications across a national portfolio of care homes and supported living services, ensuring our messaging is clear, consistent, compelling and aligned to organisational values
  • Influence directors, senior operational leaders and key stakeholders by translating customer, market and performance insight into clear recommendations and strategic action
  • Oversee marketing performance, budget, reporting and return on investment, ensuring activity is targeted, measurable and continuously improved
  • Lead digital marketing, website, search, review management and customer journey improvements that strengthen visibility, engagement and conversion
  • Own and lead talent marketing activity for the Commercial arm as a distinct strategic priority, strengthening employer brand, supporting recruitment objectives and helping attract the right people into frontline, specialist and leadership roles across our services
  • Lead agency and supplier partnerships across marketing, digital, PR and creative services, ensuring high standards, strong performance and value for money
  • Provide senior marketing and communications advice to operational and commercial colleagues, helping teams respond effectively to local challenges, opportunities and reputational risks
  • Ensure strong governance across brand standards, customer communications, data protection, advertising standards, AI-generated content and wider marketing processes
  • Lead, develop and inspire a specialist marketing and communications team, creating the clarity, confidence and capability needed to deliver at pace and with impact
  • Play a key role in strategic projects and transformation activity that supports growth, improves customer experience and strengthens the future effectiveness of the Commercial arm

Your skills and experience

  • Significant experience in a senior marketing and communications role, ideally within a multi-site, customer-led or commercially focused organisation
  • Proven ability to develop and lead marketing and communications strategies that support growth, reputation, customer engagement and measurable business outcomes

Strong commercial marketing experience, including self-funder enquiry generation, conversion, performance marketing and customer journey improvement within care or similar customer-led services

  • Experience leading brand, reputation, PR, content, social media, review management and customer communications activity across multiple channels and audiences
  • Experience leading talent marketing is desirable - employer brand or recruitment marketing activity that supports workforce attraction and organisational priorities
  • Confidence working with directors, senior leaders and operational stakeholders, with the ability to influence, advise and turn insight into clear strategic recommendations

  • Experience managing large marketing budgets, reporting performance and demonstrating return on investment across marketing and communications activity
  • Experience managing external agencies, creative partners and specialist suppliers to deliver high-quality work, strong performance and value for money
  • People leadership experience, with the ability to lead, develop and motivate a specialist marketing and communications team

About Sanctuary

We are Sanctuary.

We were set up more than 50 years ago and now provide housing and care in England and Scotland to more than a quarter of a million people, owning and managing around 120,000 units of accommodation. We exist to serve our customers and communities.

Our mission is to build affordable homes and sustainable communities where people choose to live.

We are a not-for-profit housing association, which means we don’t make profits for shareholders. Instead we invest all the income we make – every penny – into delivering on our social purpose.

We play our part in tackling the national housing crisis by building good quality affordable homes all over the UK. We build to a wide variety of needs and styles, with the aim of creating or adding to a sustainable community. Our regeneration projects transform communities by listening to residents and putting their needs first.

Social housing is at the core of what we do, and we believe secure, good quality accommodation can be the foundation that enables people to achieve their goals in life.
