Mackin Talent is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support our client in
Redmond,Wa working with their Robotics team. As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer on the
Operations & Scaling team, you will be responsible for creating, managing, and updating
models and technical drawings for parts, tools, and fixtures. Your work will directly support
facilities development, day-to-day robotics builds, and data collection activities. You will
collaborate closely with design engineering to ensure all drawings reflect the latest design for
manufacturing (DFM) requirements and will play a key role in DFM discussions with vendors.
This role supports prototype and low-volume hardware builds by coordinating custom part
procurement, reviewing BOMs/drawings/CAD files, resolving supplier and design issues,
developing fixtures, and investigating part quality concerns.
This role connects design engineering, suppliers, build teams, and test users to move custom
hardware from design release to usable parts quickly, accurately and cost effectively.
Requirements
Drawing & Model Management
Create, review, and maintain detailed CAD models and technical drawings for parts,
tools, and fixtures used in robotics builds and facilities.
Serve as the owner of the drawing database, ensuring all documentation is current,
organized, and accessible.
Review BOMs, drawings, CAD models, specifications, and revisions for errors, omissions, manufacturability issues, and tolerance concerns.
Partner with design engineering to update drawings as designs evolve, ensuring alignment with DFM best practices.
Custom Part Procurement & Supplier Coordination
Order and track custom mechanical components from multiple suppliers; expedite critical parts as needed.
Work with suppliers and design engineers to resolve technical questions related to design intent, fabrication methods, materials, finishes, tolerances, inspection requirements, and delivery risks.
Support new part revisions by identifying practical, low-risk, cost-effective implementation paths through suppliers, active builds, and available inventory.
Collaborate with Supply Chain to coordinate part orders and modifications.
Fixture Design & Build
Design, build, test, and improve custom mechanical or electro-mechanical fixtures for
prototype builds, assembly, inspection, testing, and troubleshooting.
Manage fixture and mechanical design projects staffed by outside consultants or contract resources, including requirements definition, technical review, schedule tracking, and stakeholder communication.
Quality & Problem Resolution
Investigate part quality issues using assembly diagnosis, measurement methods,
precision tools, and comparison against drawings, CAD models, and functional requirements.
Support disposition of nonconforming parts, including rework, sort, use-as-is, return,
remake, or engineering review.
Facilities & Operations Support
Generate drawings and models to support facilities development, layout planning, and
the integration of new equipment or processes.
Provide rapid technical and drawing support for day-to-day operational needs and troubleshooting.
Vendor & DFM Collaboration
Participate in and drive DFM (Design for Manufacturing) conversations with vendors,
providing updated drawings and technical documentation as needed.
Incorporate vendor feedback and manufacturing constraints into drawing revisions and part specifications.
Process Improvement & Documentation
Develop and document drawing standards, workflows, and best practices for the team.
Identify and implement process improvements to increase drawing accuracy, procurement efficiency, and manufacturing clarity.
Use AI tools, spreadsheets, scripts, or automation to reduce repetitive clerical work and improve tracking, documentation review, and reporting.
Tooling & Systems
Serve as subject matter expert on CAD and drawing management tools.
Train team members and stakeholders on drawing standards and systems.
