Job Description

Lead safety excellence within TfNSW

Be visible. Be influential. It’s boots-on-ground leadership that makes a difference!

In this role you'll:

  • Lead a high-performing team through a partnering model with teams within Road Maintenance & Resilience Division and Planning Integration & Passenger Division, providing WH&S support services including developing and implementing Safety Management Plans to meet agreed strategic priorities.
  • Provide expert advice on Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) matters to senior stakeholders and teams, while facilitating WH&S leadership capability building across client risk owners.
  • Build collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders across TfNSW, championing a customer-first approach that delivers safer outcomes for TfNSW and the people of NSW.
  • Optimise WH&S processes, documentation, and governance systems, ensuring robust compliance and better-practice standards throughout work activity.
  • Travel to sites and offices across NSW, being visible and influential in shaping the safety culture.

There is 1 permanent Senior Service Manager (TSSM) role. Please see the role description here and Information Pack here for more information. The role location is Macquarie Park, NSW and will involve some modest travel across NSW.

About You

You bring deep expertise in safety management with strong knowledge of WH&S legislation, due diligence and regulatory requirements. Your tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience include demonstrated success in operational WH&S roles.

As a leader, you've guided teams through change while uplifting culture and engagement. You help build and contribute towards high-performing, collaborative teams and take a stakeholder-focused, customer-first approach that delivers results. Your willingness to be visible across sites statewide, combined with strategic thinking and excellent communication skills, will drive safety excellence in this dynamic partnering role.
