Objectives of the Position

  • Own and drive regional technology for Acrylic Acid & Acrylates as the single technology focal point for Asia Pacific.
  • Lead technical execution of investment projects and ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
  • Drive OpEx and cost‑reduction initiatives to improve asset effectiveness and KPIs.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional stakeholders to implement technology and reliability measures.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support, troubleshooting and capability building across the region.

Main Tasks

  • Act as the accountable regional technology owner for Acrylic Acid & Acrylates in Asia - proactively drive technical support, decisions and improvements at all production sites.
  • Lead technical dialogues with external partners and project teams to define, design and approve tie‑ins, plant integrations and raw‑material feed specifications; own the technical interface and ensure robust integration plans.
  • Serve as the single interface between Global Technology & Strategy, Operations and Regional Business Management; prepare and steer internal decision packages and approval processes (Commissions S and F).
  • Evaluate technical and economic viability of projects - from debottlenecking and new site assessments to alternative feedstock options - and recommend clear go/no‑go and make‑or‑buy decisions aligned with regional strategy.
  • Drive and/or lead cost and technology benchmarking studies, delivering actionable recommendations to reduce manufacturing cost and improve competitiveness.
  • Own process and product safety activities for the portfolio in Asia, including regulatory compliance and risk‑mitigation measures; escalate and resolve safety or compliance gaps.
  • Lead Operational Excellence across all Acrylic Acid & Acrylates assets in the region: define targets, prioritize initiatives, sponsor implementation and ensure sustained KPI improvements.

Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position

  • Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related engineering/technical field.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 years of hands‑on experience in chemical manufacturing or technology development, with demonstrated problem‑solving in production environments and proven responsibility in managing investment projects (engineering, commissioning or debottlenecking).
  • Technical expertise: Strong, practical knowledge of Acrylic Acid & Acrylates production processes, including process design, plant operations and process control systems.
  • Project and commercial skills: Solid track record in project management (scope, schedule, budget), technology and manufacturing cost evaluations, and executing make‑or‑buy assessments.
  • Operational excellence & safety: Experience driving OpEx initiatives and applying process and product safety, regulatory compliance, and risk‑reduction measures in plant environments.
  • Communication & leadership: Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin preferred. Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and cross‑functional communication skills; ability to lead technical discussions with internal and external partners.
  • Tools & methods: Proficiency with engineering design standards, manufacturing cost models, common process simulation/control tools and standard office software.
