The Position

Join our Global Tax Compliance & Tax Controversy team and make an impact. As the central tax partner for Boehringer Ingelheim’s German entities, we ensure reliable tax filings and reporting and steer tax audits and disputes from strategy through resolution.

As Senior Manager Tax Compliance & Tax Controversy, you will combine tax expertise, risk management, and transformation. You will take ownership of complex matters, develop robust and pragmatic positions, and collaborate across Tax, Finance, Legal, and other functions.

You will also help shape the future of our tax function by using artificial intelligence, modern tax systems, and data-driven approaches to turn new ideas into practical improvements.

Tasks & responsibilities

• You will advise Boehringer Ingelheim’s German entities on corporate income tax matters and international reporting obligations and collaborate with relevant internal functions.
• Furthermore, you will prepare and review corporate income tax returns, tax calculations, and reporting for annual financial statements.
• Managing German tax audits end-to-end, including requests, responses, data, technical input, and communicating with tax authorities and external advisors will be part of your main responsibilities.
• in Addition, you will develop consistent international controversy strategies, governance standards, and documentation, and monitor related tax risks and reserves.
• Using artificial intelligence and modern tax systems to improve process quality, efficiency, and scalability while ensuring sound judgment, data protection, and governance will enrich the position.
• With your experience, you will challenge existing ways of working and will drive smarter, more standardized, and increasingly automated processes.

Requirements

• Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Law, or a comparable field, ideally focused on taxation or accounting
• Several years of experience in German corporate income tax, tax compliance and reporting, and tax audits or disputes
• Sound knowledge of German tax procedural law and experience with tax authorities, appeals, or litigation
• Ability to assess complex tax matters, develop defensible positions, and coordinate internal stakeholders and external advisors
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Enthusiasm for artificial intelligence, digital tools, and tax systems, combined with curiosity and a drive to turn new solutions into reliable process improvements
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, sound judgment, analytical thinking, and a structured, independent working style
• Professional fluency in German and English
