About the Job

SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Supply Chain Systems is responsible for leading the Supply Chain Systems function, ensuring the technology that enables PetSmart's distribution network effectively supports business operations, continuous improvement, and strategic initiatives.

Serving as the bridge between Supply Chain Operations and Information Technology, this role leads a team responsible for business systems configuration, testing, production support, operational readiness, and continuous improvement across Supply Chain applications.

The Senior Manager partners closely with Distribution Operations, Industrial Engineering, Transportation, Information Technology, and external technology partners to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that improve operational performance and support evolving business needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for directly supervising Supply Chain Systems team and providing leadership for Systems resources supporting the distribution and transportation network.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supply Chain Systems Leadership

  • Lead the Supply Chain Systems team responsible for business systems configuration, testing, production support, operational readiness, and continuous improvement across the Supply Chain network.
  • Establish priorities, processes, and standards that promote system stability, consistency, scalability, and effective support across Supply Chain operations.
  • Build and develop a high-performing Systems organization through coaching, technical development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Business Partnership & Systems Delivery

  • Serve as the primary business partner between Supply Chain Operations and Information Technology, ensuring business requirements are translated into effective and scalable system solutions.
  • Lead the business execution of Supply Chain Systems initiatives by defining requirements, coordinating configuration and testing activities, validating system functionality, supporting operational readiness, and ensuring successful adoption of new capabilities.
  • Partner with Information Technology to deliver system enhancements, facility expansions, software upgrades, new business capabilities, and technology deployments.

Systems Support & Operational Excellence

  • Oversee Supply Chain Systems production support, issue resolution, configuration management, and system optimization to maintain reliable and effective support of daily operations.
  • Establish and maintain common processes, documentation, testing methodologies, and support practices that promote consistent system execution across the network.
  • Identify and address systemic opportunities, dependencies, and operational issues that may impact productivity, service, throughput, or business continuity.

Systems Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Distribution Operations, Industrial Engineering, Transportation, and Information Technology to identify opportunities to improve processes and operational performance through system capabilities and configuration.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Supply Chain applications and workflows by evaluating system functionality, operational data, user feedback, and emerging business needs.
  • Support the evaluation of new technologies and system capabilities that can improve operational effectiveness, scalability, and the associate experience.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the functional subject matter expert for Supply Chain Systems and advise Supply Chain leadership and business partners on system capabilities, limitations, dependencies, and operational impacts.
  • Build strong partnerships with Distribution Operations, Industrial Engineering, Transportation, Information Technology, and external technology partners to align systems priorities with business needs.
  • Influence cross-functional decision-making by presenting system recommendations, operational insights, implementation considerations, and opportunities for improvement.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience supporting Supply Chain Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Systems, Labor Management Systems, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years leading technical teams or highly skilled individual contributors.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale distribution or retail supply chain operations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional systems initiatives involving business and technology partners.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, vendors, and business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous situations and adapting to evolving business priorities.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Advanced knowledge of Supply Chain systems supporting distribution and transportation operations.
  • Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Labor Management Systems (LMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and related Supply Chain applications.
  • Experience with systems configuration, business requirements, testing, production support, issue resolution, and operational readiness.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with Information Technology and business teams to deliver integrated system solutions.
  • Ability to leverage operational data, system performance, and business requirements to identify opportunities for system and process improvement.
  • Strong understanding of system integrations, upstream and downstream dependencies, and impacts of system changes across Supply Chain operations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, vendor management, and communication skills.
