Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Senior Manager, Strategy and Design

What’s the role?

As a Senior Manager, Strategy and Design, you'll play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of Westpac's Business & Wealth division. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with a hybrid working model, open to candidates based in Sydney or Melbourne.

Working closely with the Strategy Lead and senior stakeholders across the division, you'll help solve complex business challenges, define strategic priorities, and identify opportunities that support long-term growth and performance. You'll lead strategic initiatives end-to-end, from problem definition through to recommendation, bringing structure to ambiguity and using data-driven insights to inform decision-making.

You'll develop strategic options, assess trade-offs, and build robust business cases that enable leaders to make informed decisions, and you'll create high-quality, executive-ready materials that distil complex information into clear, compelling narratives and actionable insights. In doing so, you'll build trusted relationships across the organisation, influence key decisions, and help drive strategic outcomes with lasting impact.

This is a highly visible role offering exposure to a broad range of strategic and operational priorities. Partnering with teams across Business & Wealth and the wider Group, you'll help shape the future direction of the division and contribute to some of its most important strategic initiatives.

What do I need?

You'll be a strategic thinker who enjoys solving complex problems and influencing outcomes in a fast-paced environment. You'll also bring:

  • Strong experience (6+ years) in strategy, management consulting or corporate strategy, or in complex programs, utilising advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to tackle complex, ambiguous problems and deliver clear recommendations.
  • Structured thinker with strong analytical, synthesis and storytelling capability.
  • Ability to develop materials to communicate complex ideas and concepts effectively at a board- or executive-level.
  • Ability to independently lead discrete pieces of work that are timebound to project deliverables.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills with experience engaging executive stakeholders.
  • Sharp commercial acumen and ability to link strategy to tangible, financial outcomes.
