About the Role

The Senior Manager, Specialised Credit (Agri and CRE) is a key leadership role within the Business and Private Bank Risk team, responsible for providing independent credit oversight and driving strong portfolio outcomes across ANZ's Agribusiness and Commercial Real Estate portfolios. Leading a team of specialised credit professionals, the role combines deep credit expertise with strategic judgement to support high-quality credit decision-making, effective portfolio management, and alignment with ANZ's credit risk principles and policies.

Working closely with senior business and risk stakeholders, you will influence complex credit decisions, contribute to governance and risk discussions, and provide insight on emerging portfolio risks and opportunities. The role requires an accomplished leader who can navigate complexity, build high-performing teams, drive continuous improvement, and foster a strong risk culture while balancing commercial objectives with prudent risk management.

What will your day look like?

As a Senior Manager, Specialised Credit (Agri and CRE), you are accountable for:

  • Lead the Line 2 Agribusiness and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team within Specialised Credit, delivering sound credit decisions and strong portfolio quality outcomes.
  • Influence strategic credit and portfolio decisions through trusted partnerships with senior business and risk stakeholders, and active participation in governance forums.
  • Provide independent risk leadership and oversight across complex credit exposures, balancing commercial outcomes with prudent risk management.
  • Build and develop a high-performing team, strengthening capability, credit expertise, and excellence in portfolio stewardship.
  • Champion a strong risk culture through effective governance, policy adherence, portfolio oversight, and transparent risk reporting aligned to the Group's risk appetite.

What will you bring?

  • Strong leadership skills, including stakeholder influencing skills and the ability to manage executive stakeholders.
  • Advanced credit assessment, decision-making (CAD), and risk management capabilities across Specialised Credit portfolios, preferably Agribusiness and Commercial Real Estate.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritisation skills, ability to manage complex credit scenarios. Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset including policy gap identification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to manage credit deterioration and complex risk scenarios proactively, and demonstrated ability to contribute to executive level papers.
  • Demonstrates an open‑minded and adaptable approach, with the ability to adjust style, thinking and judgement to evolving business needs and credit contexts, and to align with ANZ's 2030 Strategy.
  • Has successfully led teams through change while fostering a positive, open mindset and helping teams adapt confidently to evolve business and risk environments.
  • Tertiary qualification in Banking, Finance, Accounting or Economics (desirable)
