As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering, you will serve as a subject matter expert on multiplatform applications and determine a course of action under the direction of systems leadership. You’ll direct the system development lifecycle, including the design, coding, testing, documentation, installation, maintenance, and support of software systems and applications.
What you will do:
• Manage team(s) that develop, implement, and maintain highly complex proprietary and/or purchased software systems in support of the wealth management and retirement solutions businesses
• Manage systems performance and quality assurance testing policies and procedures
• Assign teams and individual staff to projects of varying scope. Assist business leaders and business systems analysts with an Agile process of prioritizing and structuring work so that teams deliver business value in frequent and regular increments
• Mentor and coach engineering associates within the organization, providing guidance and growth opportunities
• Establish and maintain procedures and best practices by which subordinates operate. Bear responsibility for team performance and overall success of assigned projects
• Work with associated line of business leaders to maintain and support systems
• Ensure owned systems are functioning optimally and meeting business leaders changing needs
• Provide performance management to assigned application development team members by defining team and individualized performance objectives and actively manage their realization
• Ensure the assigned team's work and responsibilities are fulfilled in accordance with procedures and quality standards
• Make recommendations affecting staff (compensation, performance appraisals, development plans, work schedules, discipline and hiring)
• Define and implement continuous improvement processes to elevate organizational capabilities and business value
What you will bring:
• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience
• Minimum eight (8) years experience in systems including at least two (2) years experience directly leading people, including developing, motivating, and directing people
• Knowledge/experience related to Cloud data engineering, AWS, SQL, Python, Java, including managing costs and optimizing resources
• Software development, quality engineer or production support and infrastructure background
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
What will set you apart:
• Experience serving as a Scrum Master, Kanban Leader, or Agile delivery lead for software engineering, production support, platform, or infrastructure teams
• Ability to facilitate Agile ceremonies, manage team boards, support story refinement, remove blockers, and drive predictable delivery through clear prioritization and work-in-progress management
• Experience coaching teams on Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and continuous improvement practices to improve flow, transparency, accountability, and delivery outcomes
• Demonstrated ability to partner with Product Owners, Delivery Leads, business stakeholders, and technical leads to translate priorities into actionable team backlogs
