Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Manager – Software Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams responsible for delivering products across the Transmission portfolio. This role requires a strong engineering leader who can combine people leadership, technical depth, execution rigor, and portfolio-level ownership of quality, DevOps, and SRE practices to build high-quality, reliable, scalable, and secure software products.

As a senior engineering manager, you will be responsible not only for driving end-to-end engineering execution across development, quality, release, deployment, and production reliability, but also for establishing and institutionalizing strong engineering practices across the broader Transmission portfolio. You will play a critical role in driving quality ownership across teams, anchoring DevOps and SRE operating models at the portfolio level, and ensuring consistent adoption of engineering standards, automation, observability, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Engineering Manager with proven success leading agile product teams, scaling engineering organizations, and driving accountability for product quality, release readiness, service reliability, and engineering maturity across multiple teams and products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop multiple agile engineering teams delivering full-stack product development, quality engineering, deployment, and sustenance for the Transmission portfolio.
  • Drive portfolio-level engineering execution to ensure roadmap commitments are delivered with high standards of quality, predictability, operational readiness, and customer impact.
  • Establish and strengthen quality ownership across the Transmission portfolio, ensuring teams are accountable for defect prevention, test effectiveness, non-functional requirements, and overall product quality.
  • Anchor and scale DevOps and SRE practices across the portfolio, including CI/CD maturity, automation, observability, service ownership, incident readiness, and production support excellence.
  • Act as a strong Engineering Manager, balancing strategic priorities, people leadership, delivery execution, and technical governance across teams.
  • Champion software engineering excellence through standardization of development practices, code quality, design discipline, test automation, secure development, and maintainable architecture.
  • Partner with product management, architecture, quality, platform, and support teams to align engineering execution with business priorities and portfolio goals.

People Leadership & Engineering Culture

  • Build, coach, and lead high-performing engineering teams and managers with a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive clear ownership across teams for delivery, quality, production reliability, and engineering excellence.
  • Mentor engineers, technical leads, and managers to strengthen technical capability, leadership maturity, and execution effectiveness.
  • Foster an engineering culture that promotes Quality First, operational discipline, customer focus, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Ensure teams take end-to-end responsibility for the products they build, including development, deployment, supportability, and reliability in production.
  • Create clarity in goals, execution expectations, and decision-making while building strong engagement and trust across the organization.

Technical & Engineering Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership across the Transmission portfolio spanning application, platform, cloud, integration, and data layers.
  • Drive consistent adoption of strong engineering practices including architecture reviews, coding standards, secure development, peer reviews, automation, and engineering governance.
  • Lead portfolio-wide improvements in quality engineering, DevOps maturity, release discipline, and SRE-based reliability practices.
  • Ensure solutions are built with strong focus on scalability, reliability, security, performance, maintainability, and supportability.
  • Promote the use of engineering and operational metrics to improve code quality, release confidence, deployment health, service stability, and customer outcomes.
  • Lead modernization efforts and guide technical decisions that improve long-term product sustainability and engineering efficiency.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for critical technical, operational, and delivery issues across the portfolio.

Candidate Profile / What We’re Looking For

  • 15+ years of software industry experience with strong experience leading agile engineering teams and delivering enterprise-scale software products.
  • 4+ years of experience in engineering management with demonstrated ownership of delivery, people leadership, and engineering excellence across multiple teams.
  • Proven track record of driving quality ownership, DevOps transformation, and SRE/production reliability practicesacross product organizations or portfolios.
  • Strong technical foundation in modern software engineering, including full-stack systems, cloud technologies, distributed architectures, and software lifecycle best practices.
  • Experience establishing portfolio-level operating mechanisms, metrics, and governance for quality, release readiness, observability, and service reliability.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across engineering, product, architecture, quality, and operations teams.
  • High ownership mindset with the ability to lead through ambiguity, scale engineering practices, and drive consistent execution across the Transmission portfolio.
