About the Business/Team

Lead the Bank's Workplace Security, Asset Management & Sustainability and Infrastructure Engineering functions, ensuring the organisation's physical assets, critical infrastructure, people, and operations remain secure, resilient, sustainable and fit for future needs. While maintaining strong oversight of the Bank's well-established security operations and protective security framework, the role will have a strategic focus on advancing asset management maturity, long-term asset planning, sustainability outcomes and infrastructure resilience.

The position provides strategic leadership across asset lifecycle management, sustainability initiatives, security governance and infrastructure engineering advisory services to maximise asset value, operational performance and organisational resilience. Lead and develop individuals and teams to achieve goals and deliver RBA outcomes.

About the Role

Security Operations and Engineering

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of the Bank’s physical security, protective security, intelligence and security governance functions, ensuring safe, secure and resilient operations across nationally significant and critical sites.

  • Maintain and continuously enhance security strategies, frameworks and policies aligned with legislative, regulatory and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) requirements.

  • Oversee security operations, incident management, investigations, intelligence reporting and threat mitigation activities.

  • Ensure effective management and continual improvement of electronic security systems, physical access controls, surveillance technologies, privacy controls and security reporting.

  • Partner with technology and cyber security teams to strengthen the resilience of integrated security environments and critical infrastructure.

  • Maintain organisational preparedness through security risk assessments, business resilience initiatives and emergency management planning.

  • Provide executive leadership and assurance that security controls, governance arrangements and operational practices remain effective and proportionate to business risk.

Asset Management and Sustainability

  • Lead the development and execution of the Bank's strategic asset management framework, ensuring assets are managed throughout their lifecycle to optimise value, performance and risk outcomes.

  • Drive the ongoing maturity and integration of asset management practices, governance and decision-making across the Bank's diverse property and infrastructure portfolio.

  • Oversee lifecycle planning, asset condition assessments, capital investment prioritisation and long-term asset renewal programs to support future operational requirements.

  • Lead the Bank's sustainability agenda, embedding sustainability considerations into asset planning, investment decisions and operational practices.

  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies, performance measures and reporting frameworks that support organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve asset performance, operational efficiency and environmental outcomes while ensuring compliance with relevant sustainability and asset management obligations.

  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure the Bank's physical assets and infrastructure remain resilient, sustainable and capable of supporting future business needs.

Infrastructure Engineering Advisory

  • Provide expert leadership and advisory services relating to critical workplace and operational infrastructure.

  • Oversee engineering governance and performance associated with critical systems, including data centre power, resilience, reliability and supporting infrastructure.

  • Ensure infrastructure strategies, standards and operational frameworks support business continuity, asset performance and organisational resilience.

  • Deliver technical guidance on major infrastructure investments, upgrades and risk management initiatives to optimise operational performance and long-term asset sustainability.


About you

  • Extensive experience leading asset management, facilities, infrastructure, engineering and/or sustainability functions within a complex corporate, government or regulated environment.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic asset management frameworks and long-term investment plans that optimise asset performance and organisational outcomes.

  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, capital planning, sustainability frameworks and infrastructure resilience.

  • Experience providing leadership and governance oversight for security and protective security functions within a complex operational environment.

  • Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with operational accountability, delivering high-quality services while managing risk, compliance, budgets and organisational priorities.

  • Strong track record in leading multidisciplinary teams, fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture, and developing capability to achieve both individual and organisational objectives.

  • Ability to identify, assess and respond to complex challenges, risks and interdependencies, applying sound judgement to deliver sustainable and effective business outcomes.

  • Extensive stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience, with the ability to build trust, influence decision-making and collaborate effectively with executives, regulators, service providers and diverse business groups.

  • Demonstrated experience managing significant outsourced service arrangements and vendor partnerships, ensuring value for money, contractual compliance, service excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Proven ability to lead organisational change, drive innovation and implement improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery, operational efficiency and workplace outcomes.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Asset Management, Sustainability, Facilities Management, Business, Security Management or a related discipline.

  • Professional certifications or memberships relevant to asset management, engineering, sustainability, facilities management, security, project management or leadership.
