Emirates Global Aluminium is the world’s biggest ‘premium aluminium’ producer and the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside the oil and gas industry. EGA is an integrated aluminium producer, with operations on four continents from bauxite mining to the production of cast primary aluminium and recycling. Senior Manager – Security

ESG & Sustainability / Emergency Response and Control

JOB PURPOSE

To lead and enhance the organisation’s Security function by strengthening security maturity across physical, personnel, and information-related domains. The role is responsible for safeguarding critical assets, preventing unauthorised access and information leakage, and ensuring robust security controls across employees, contractors, and third parties.

The Manager – Security drives a proactive and intelligence-led security approach, addressing emerging threats such as insider risk, digital exposure of assets, and unauthorised information sharing, while ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and national security requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Security Strategy, Maturity & Governance

• Lead the development and execution of security enhancement initiatives to address identified gaps in security maturity
• Strengthen governance, policies, and controls to ensure a more stringent and proactive security posture across all operations
• Establish mechanisms to continuously assess and improve security effectiveness and resilience

Personnel Security & Insider Risk Management

• Develop and enforce controls to manage insider risk, including monitoring and prevention of unauthorised sharing of sensitive information (e.g., asset locations, images)
• Work closely with HR to ensure robust vetting, clearance, and onboarding controls for employees and contractors
• Implement policies governing use of personal devices, photography, and data sharing within operational zones
• Lead and oversee day-to-day security operations across all sites to ensure effective protection coverage
• Ensure optimal deployment and utilisation of security personnel and resources
• Drive operational efficiency and service quality across all security activities

Contractor & Third-Party Security

• Establish and enforce security clearance, access control, and monitoring processes for contractors and external parties
• Address gaps in tracking and managing non-employee access to sites and critical assets
• Ensure all third-party activities comply with organisational security standards and regulatory requirements

Security Operations & Control Room Oversight

• Lead and oversee security operations, including control room activities, surveillance, and access management
• Ensure effective utilisation of CCTV systems, badge access controls, and monitoring technologies
• Oversee zoning and access restrictions, ensuring personnel access is controlled based on role and site requirements

Critical Asset Protection

• Ensure robust protection of critical infrastructure and sensitive locations, including monitoring for external exposure (e.g., mapping platforms, online data)
• Coordinate with authorities to assess and mitigate risks related to publicly available information on critical assets
• Implement measures to prevent unauthorised disclosure of sensitive operational details

Regulatory & External Coordination

• Act as the key interface with government authorities and national security entities (e.g., National Guard) on security-related matters
• Ensure compliance with evolving national security expectations and regulatory requirements
• Lead responses to external security reviews, audits, and recommendations

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT & INVESTIGATION

• Oversee investigation of security breaches, information leaks, and non-compliance incidents
• Ensure timely escalation and corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Analyse trends to strengthen preventive controls and reduce vulnerabilities

MAINTENANCE, TESTING & INSPECTION

• Oversee maintenance, testing, and operational readiness of security systems (e.g., access control, CCTV, intrusion detection systems)
• Ensure regular inspections and audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance
• Drive continuous improvement in system reliability and effectiveness

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

• Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements and international standards related to security
• Maintain readiness for inspections and audits by authorities
• Act as the focal point for engagement with external agencies and regulatory bodies

TRAINING & AWARENESS

• Lead development and delivery of security training and awareness programs across the organisation
• Promote a strong security culture to minimise risks and incidents

EMERGENCY RESPONSE COORDINATION

• Align security protocols with emergency response and crisis management frameworks
• Support site security during incidents, ensuring effective coordination and control

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

• Lead and manage a team of Security Superintendents (multi-disciplinary focus) including:
• Surveillance & control room operations
• Access control and badge management
• Data and information-related security controls
• Ensure effective coordination across teams and locations to deliver integrated security outcomes

SAFETY, QUALITY & ENVIRONMENT

• Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures
• Promote a secure and safe working environment across all operations

AUTHORITY DECISION MARKING

GUIDELINES:

• Operates within broad organisational and regulatory frameworks, exercising independent judgment in managing complex and sensitive security risks

DECISION MAKING:

• Authority to enforce security controls, restrictions, and compliance measures across all sites, including personnel and contractor access
• Authority to initiate investigations and corrective actions in response to security breaches or vulnerabilities
• Authority to implement restrictions on device usage, access zones, and information sharing practices to protect critical assets
• Represents the organisation in engagements with external authorities on security matters and drives implementation of required actions

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• Professional certifications in Security / Risk / Crisis Management (preferred)

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

• 10+ years of experience in security operations and risk management, preferably within industrial or critical infrastructure environments
• At least 5–7 years in managerial roles

SKILLS:

• Strong knowledge of physical and personnel security frameworks
• Experience in insider risk management and access control systems
• Knowledge of regulatory and national security requirements
• Ability to manage sensitive and high-risk scenarios
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working in complex, multi-site environments
• Proficiency in security systems and digital monitoring tools
