Job Description

The Salesforce Platform Manager is a senior platform leadership role responsible for the long-term health, strategic direction, commercial stewardship, compliance posture, and operational governance of Emerson's enterprise Salesforce platform. This role owns the coordinated platform roadmap across Business Groups and Enterprise Areas, ensuring Salesforce capabilities are aligned to Emerson's commercial, service, channel, data, and digital transformation priorities.

Beyond day-to-day platform ownership, this role manages Salesforce licenses, entitlements, vendor relationships, release intake, platform health metrics, technical debt visibility, and enterprise-wide governance alignment. The Platform Owner partners with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Data, Business Group leaders, implementation partners, and the Salesforce Center of Excellence to balance standardization, scalability, risk management, and business agility.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Platform Ownership, Roadmap & Governance

  • Own the long-term health, strategic direction, and enterprise roadmap for Emerson's Salesforce platform across implementation, stabilization, and continuous improvement phases
  • Translate Business Group capability needs into a prioritized Salesforce platform roadmap that balances global standardization with justified local flexibility
  • Partner with the Architecture Review Board, Salesforce Center of Excellence, and workstream teams to enforce platform governance, design standards, release discipline, and decision rights
  • Monitor platform limits, org health, release impacts, adoption risks, technical debt, and configuration complexity, escalating issues before they become delivery or operational blockers
  • Maintain a clear intake, prioritization, and release governance process for enhancements, new Salesforce products, and enterprise-level platform changes

Commercial, Vendor & License Stewardship

  • Manage Salesforce licenses, entitlements, usage, renewals, and vendor commercial relationships to ensure Emerson receives value from its Salesforce investments
  • Represent Emerson in Salesforce customer councils, strategic account discussions, product roadmap conversations, and partner governance forums
  • Evaluate new Salesforce capabilities and ecosystem tools against business value, platform fit, cost, risk, and enterprise readiness criteria
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Legal, Finance, Security, and IT leadership on commercial agreements, compliance obligations, and vendor performance expectations

Compliance, Security & Enterprise Alignment

  • Ensure Salesforce platform operations align with Emerson security policies, data governance frameworks, audit requirements, regulatory obligations, and enterprise architecture standards
  • Partner with Security, Data, and Architecture leaders on access models, data protection, sandbox strategy, release controls, and operational risk management
  • Define platform-level operating metrics and executive reporting for platform health, adoption, compliance, cost, releases, support performance, and backlog transparency
  • Build durable platform operating practices that reduce customization sprawl, protect the global template, and support a sustainable internal ownership model

Who You Are:

You combine strategic platform ownership with hands-on operational discipline (Strategic Mindset; Drives Results). You can make sense of competing Business Group requirements, vendor inputs, compliance obligations, and technical constraints, then convert them into a practical platform roadmap (Manages Complexity; Decision Quality). You communicate platform priorities in business language, build trust with senior stakeholders, and influence teams through credibility rather than title (Communicates Effectively; Collaborates; Interpersonal Savvy). You are disciplined about governance, but pragmatic enough to support business speed when risk is understood and decisions are transparent (Balances Stakeholders; Ensures Accountability).

For This Role, You Will Need:

Technical Skills:

  • Salesforce platform administration, configuration, security, release management, sandbox strategy, and org health monitoring
  • License management, entitlement tracking, vendor governance, and commercial stewardship for enterprise software platforms
  • Multi-org governance, platform limits, technical debt management, release intake, and environment strategy
  • Understanding of Salesforce product portfolio, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Data Cloud, Agentforce, Manufacturing Cloud, and partner ecosystem tools
  • Security and compliance frameworks relevant to enterprise platforms, including SOX, GDPR, data residency, audit readiness, and access controls

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills:

  • Executive communication and platform storytelling for CIO, commercial, finance, and Business Group stakeholders
  • Governance mindset with pragmatic flexibility and ability to make balanced standardization versus local-fit decisions
  • Cross-functional influence without direct authority across business, IT, Architecture, Security, Data, Procurement, Legal, and vendor teams
  • Strategic planning orientation with ability to connect platform investments to enterprise outcomes and measurable business value
  • Operational discipline, transparency, and comfort managing competing priorities across a complex global implementation

Required Certifications:

  • Salesforce Administrator certification
  • Salesforce Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, or Salesforce product certifications valued

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience managing Salesforce platforms in manufacturing, industrial, or B2B environments
  • Multi-org Salesforce governance experience at global enterprise scale
  • Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud, Agentforce, Manufacturing Cloud, or SPIFF
  • Prior ownership of platform health scorecards, operating models, vendor scorecards, or enterprise application governance boards
  • Experience standing up or maturing a Salesforce Center of Excellence

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of Salesforce platform management, administration, product ownership, or enterprise application leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience governing Salesforce in a complex, global, multi-business environment
  • Experience managing platform roadmaps, release governance, vendor relationships, licensing, compliance, and operational metrics
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce administration, security, release management, sandbox strategy, and enterprise platform lifecycle management
  • Approximately 10-20% travel (global)
