The Boeing Chief Aerospace Safety Office (CASO) and BCA SMS team are seeking a Senior Manager, Safety Management System (SMS) in Everett, WA Presently, the team is responsible for growing and accelerating the Safety Management System within BCA. This includes leading a team of individual contributors performing high‑visibility safety risk management, scaling SMS performance, implementing Safety Assurance, and serving as a key interface across assigned Airplane Programs and functional organizations including Engineering, Supply Chain, Fabrication, Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Support, and regulatory agencies.

This role entails an understanding of Boeing organizations, external customer and regulator organizations, and requires an ability to bring together cross functional teams to complete cross functional changes.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, projects, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the enterprise SMS in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (including 14 CFR Part 5 where applicable).
  • Lead efforts to prepare for FAA Oversight of our SMS.
  • Integrate lessons learned and best practices across Business Unit SMS teams and external partners (airline customers, regulators, suppliers).
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Safety & Airworthiness.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA. Some travel may be required as business needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 3+ years of experience in a management position
  • 3+ years of experience in project management

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Product safety management experience, ideally with safety management systems, safety risk management processes and leading hazard analyses for novel systems
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate to both executives and engineers at all levels
  • Experience leading and working in a cross functional and complex global environment, building relationships among a team through open dialogue, trust, accountability and empowerment and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams in an aerospace environment
  • Experience with Boeing Production System

Pay Range: $181,900 - $246,100
