Shape the Bank's risk agenda at the highest level
Lead through influence across the Organisation
Drive system, governance and capability uplift
Fixed Term Contract - 5 Years
About the business/role/team
This is a senior leadership role at the centre of the Bank's Enterprise Risk function, sitting within Line 2 and reporting directly to the Head of Enterprise Risk.
As Senior Manager, Risk Insights and Governance you will turn complex, bank-wide risk data into clear, outcomes focused insight that drives decision making at the most senior levels. You will be responsible for developing the Bank’s core risk reporting outputs, including the Chief Risk Officer report and the Enterprise risk view presented to senior executive and Board committees. These outputs shape how risk is understood, challenged and managed across the Bank.
You will also act as Business System Owner for the Bank’s enterprise risk management platform, setting its strategic direction and ensuring it supports high‑quality risk insight, reporting and decision‑making.
You will be responsible for bringing together a wide range of inputs into a single, coherent and authoritative view of risk. This requires strong judgement, the ability to challenge constructively, and the discipline to maintain high standards of quality, consistency and timeliness across the reporting cycle.
About the Role
Lead the secretariat function for the RMC, with papers flowing through the executive and Board committees. The governance cycle must run smoothly, committee outputs must be of high quality. As internal governance arrangements evolve, you will play a key role in shaping how they work.
Own the design, quality and narrative of the bank-wide risk reporting suite. The CRO report must be outcomes focussed and analytically rigorous - synthesising inputs from across line 2 into a coherent bank wide risk picture that drives genuine challenge and decision making. You set the standard, shape the narrative, and hold the quality across the full reporting cycle.
You are responsible for the coherence and quality of the end product. That requires managing peer relationships with credibility, setting clear expectations on input quality and timing, and resolving gaps or inconsistencies.
As Business System Owner for Protecht ERM, hold the strategic direction of the platform and its roadmap and emerging capability. You ensure investment decisions are right and the roadmap services the broader risk strategy, including emerging opportunities in AI assisted risk management.
Lead and develop a high‑performing team. Set clear expectations, build capability in risk insight and communication, and continue to strengthen the team’s impact through coaching and stretch opportunities.
About You
Risk insight and analytical capability - You are able to look at the bank-wide risk profile and find the story. You know what good risk reporting looks like and you can build towards it. You have produced or significantly shaped the CRO level or board level risk reporting. You can synthesise inputs from multiple sources into a coherent narrative, and you can distinguish between a data compilation and genuine insight.
The ability to lead through influence as well as authority - You will coordinate contributions from peer functions who do not report to you. That requires credibility, clear communication of expectations, and the ability to hold quality standards across organisational boundaries. This is as important as leading your own team.
Governance presence and judgment - You are credible in senior governance settings - with ExCo , ARC. You understand how governance cycles work, what committees need, and how to maintain the quality of what lands in front of senior stakeholders. You do not need to be a governance specialist. You need to be a risk professional who operatives confidently in governance settings.
Line 2 risk experience - You understand the mandate of a Line 2 function - independent oversight, challenge and assurance. You know where the line is with Line 1 and you are comfortable holding it.
Technology and data literacy to direct people and prioritise - Ability to understand what is possible, make sound investment and prioritisation decisions and engage credibly with a technically capable team. Oversight of the product owner who will be responsible for this.
A leader who develops people - Strong ability to build capability in your team deliberately, create clear expectations, and invest in the growth of individuals at different stages of their careers.
