Join a high-impact team within the Retail Operations (RO) division of the Chief Operations Office (COO), the engine room of the CBA Group. As a trusted advisor, you’ll strengthen RO’s risk and compliance capabilities and uplift the control environment.
The RO Risk Advisory team is accountable for the provision of trusted advice to the RO business to strengthen their risk and compliance capabilities and optimise the risk and control environment. This is a dynamic and faced-paced role that offers an excellent opportunity for experienced risk professionals to broaden their impact across a new business area, particularly in retail banking, home lending or complaint management.
The RO Risk Advisory team is a first line of defence function that provides comprehensive and integrated risk services to support RO. The value proposition of the Risk Advisory team is to provide skilled, practical and efficient Risk Management to support RO in the delivery of excellent business and customer outcomes. You’ll be a proactive and autonomous risk partner to RO, acting as the primary risk lead for Group Customer Relations (GCR).
Key responsibilities
You will partner with the business to deliver a comprehensive and integrated Line 1 risk service, including:
Leading activities aligned to the Group’s Operational Risk Management Framework, Compliance Management Framework, and relevant policies to ensure GCR risks and compliance obligations are effectively managed.
Leading deep dives into the GCR environment to identify emerging risks, opportunities for improvement and driving uplifts in the control environment.
Providing senior stakeholders with insights and suggested actions in relation to the GCR risk and control profiles, issues, incidents and change matters.
Leading the delivery of change management risk practices to ensure the achievement of transformation objectives within GCR Complaint Crews.
Working closely with Line 2 Operational Risk and Compliance teams to ensure alignment with Group policies, standards and regulatory expectations.
Supporting robust governance outcomes, including preparation for and contribution to RO Non-Financial Risk Committee forums.
Leading, coaching and developing strong technical and risk capability across the RO Line 1 and GCR business stakeholders.
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a candidate who combines technical depth, commercial practicality and strong stakeholder influencing skills:
Risk and compliance mindset with advance knowledge and experience in operational risk and compliance management; knowledge of the complaints management environment would be beneficial.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across varying levels of seniority.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
Strong strategic thinking capability, with the ability to analyse trends, diagnose issues, and recommend practical, outcome-focused solutions.
Strong influencing and collaboration skills to drive strategic outcomes with suppliers and building relationships with all levels of management;
Critical thinking, problem solving and ability to work with moving deadlines and deliverables;
