How you’ll make an impact

The Senior Manager Retirement Confidence role is expected to make an impact by positioning North as the most trusted technical support partner for superannuation and retirement amongst financial advisers. This involves supporting advisers to provide excellent retirement advice and leading the Retirement Confidence Specialists in promoting the interests of North to advisers. This role provides technical expertise in superannuation and retirement and converts that expertise into informative and engaging content. The role is the external face of the Retirement Confidence Hub to advisers and will present at PD Days, webinars and via written media.

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in the leadership team of the Retirement Division to help guide AMP and North’s leadership in retirement more broadly.
  • Develop new and original retirement-related technical strategies, articles, case studies and training material to create a competitive advantage for North, by staying abreast of regulatory change, advice trends, technology innovation and product development.
  • Delivering retirement-related technical content to advisers in an engaging and informative manner across multiple channels both online and in-person.
  • Lead the Retirement Confidence Specialists in supporting advisers to provide exceptional retirement outcomes for their clients, by responding to adviser queries
  • Assist in the achievement of retirement-related objectives in Wealth Distribution, such as sales of retirement solutions (e.g. Lifetime, Guarantees) and activation of new advisers.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Retirement Confidence Specialists and assist in their career development.
  • Participate in the Regulatory Change Forum to ensure the business is aware of opportunities and threats posed by legislative change.
  • Participate as a member of the Retirement Confidence Hub Advisory Committee, taking leadership of relevant advice-related initiatives and other activities as required.
  • Lead the exploration and development of AI tools to improve and streamline technical support for advisers and clients.
  • Review written material for technical sign off including marketing material and disclosure documents.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external peers, regulators and industry bodies to influence the regulatory and advice agenda

What you will bring to the team

Ideally, you will bring the following experiences to this role:

  • Extensive experience (8+ years), working in financial services in a technical role or as a financial adviser with management experience and a product background/customer/regulatory and compliance environments
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in accounting, law, commerce, finance, business or financial planning
  • Proven experience in the successful management and implementation of regulatory changes
  • Demonstrated ability to implement operational and/or organisational change
  • Ability to deliver results through others via effective leadership and coaching
  • Ability to contribute to the development of business plans and present in both senior leadership environments and at external public speaking events (e.g. media, conferences or online)
  • Ability to create articles and other media that communicates technical details into simple and engaging content suitable to advisers and clients
  • Strong experience of managing multiple projects and working in a project environment and understanding of project management principles
  • Competent understanding and appreciation of various retirement products and regulatory retirements and how they are integrated across the end-to-end wealth value chain
  • Competent understanding of principal areas of taxation, superannuation, social security, life insurance, estate planning and financial planning issues
  • Experience in identifying, assessing and addressing operational risk
  • Understanding of competitors propositions and industry trends, as they relate to the wealth management, in particular platforms, financial planning and a retirement environment
