Today, as sustainability expectations, stakeholder needs, and regulatory requirements continue to evolve, we are looking for an experienced sustainability professional to help lead the next chapter of this important program.

As senior manager, Responsible Coffee Sourcing & C.A.F.E. practices, you will lead the strategic evolution and management of Starbucks responsible coffee sourcing program. You will help strengthen its impact, credibility, efficiency, and readiness for evolving sustainability, human rights, supply chain, and regulatory expectations.
This role requires a strong responsible sourcing and sustainability leader who can think strategically, work across global teams, influence stakeholders, manage complexity, and translate evolving standards and regulations into practical business solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As senior manager, Responsible Coffee Sourcing & C.A.F.E. practices, you will:

  • Lead the redesign, transformation, and long-term evolution of Starbucks C.A.F.E. practices and responsible coffee sourcing approach.
  • Shape future governance, assurance, partnership, and operating models to strengthen program impact, credibility, and efficiency.
  • Develop risk-based responsible sourcing strategies addressing environmental, social, human rights, supply chain, and regulatory risks.
  • Ensure C.A.F.E. practices data and systems support sustainability reporting, due diligence, risk management, and strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with technology vendors to improve sustainability data reliability, controls, and system functionality.
  • Lead cross-functional work with Coffee, Sustainability, Human Rights, Compliance, Legal, Communications, Supply Chain, Technology, and Procurement.
  • Manage program budgets and resources to support operational delivery and strategic growth.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct report(s), while building capability and clear accountabilities across the team.
  • Build internal capability by preparing, communicating, and educating stakeholders on responsible sourcing policies and practices.
  • Monitor international regulatory developments and advise on potential impacts to Starbucks responsible coffee sourcing program.
  • Build and present clear analysis and recommendations to support decision-making, mitigate risk, and advance long-term sustainability priorities.

  • 10+ years of experience in responsible sourcing, voluntary standards, sustainable supply chains, or international procurement.
  • Strong experience in agricultural commodities; coffee and/or cocoa experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in strategy management within a fast-paced, international, matrixed environment.
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams and developing talent.
  • Experience managing budgets and complex global programs.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability standards, assurance models, responsible sourcing frameworks, and relevant regulatory environments.
  • Experience developing or implementing voluntary sustainability standards and strategic plans.
  • Field experience in developing countries and agricultural communities, with a strong understanding of standards implementation on the ground.
  • Strong ability to influence across functions, cultures, senior stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risks, and develop practical, timely solutions.
  • Excellent English communication skills; Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese are highly desirable to support regional engagement across Latin America and Brazil.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and PowerPoint, plus general database management experience.
  • Flexibility, curiosity, and willingness to adapt as priorities evolve.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, including developing countries, for at least one month per year.
  • Bachelor’s degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent professional experience.
