What’s the role?

As Senior Manager, Protective Security, you'll lead the ongoing development of Westpac’s physical security risk management framework and help protect our people, customers, assets, and operations from physical security threats. The role is responsible for managing security risk assessment methodologies, incident response, and security governance while ensuring alignment with industry best practice and relevant security frameworks.

You'll lead the assessment of security risks across Westpac’s corporate sites, branches, business banking centres, ATMs, data centres, executive residences, and major events. You'll also oversee security incident responses, support enterprise security strategies including insider threat management, and provide advice on emerging threats and risk mitigation strategies.

A key focus of the role is strengthening Westpac’s protective security capability through risk assessment, policy development, supplier management, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement of security practices. You'll also play an important leadership role supporting major events, executive protection activities, crisis response, and external engagement with relevant security and law enforcement stakeholders.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Sydney, operating under a hybrid working model, with flexibility required during major events, incidents, or emerging security situations.

What do I need?

  • Significant experience in law enforcement, defence, government security, intelligence, or corporate security environments
  • Demonstrated experience leading physical security risk management, incident response, and security governance activities
  • Strong leadership capability with experience managing teams, stakeholders, and complex security issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present security assessments and recommendations
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including engagement with law enforcement, government, and industry partners
  • Ability to apply sound judgement, make decisions under pressure, and lead responses to significant security incidents

Experience within financial services and qualifications in security risk management, intelligence, international relations, or related disciplines will be highly regarded
