The Senior Manager - Process Automation Lead drives process automation strategy, governance, and recipe development activities at project level within Global Engineering, ensuring automation solutions are aligned with manufacturing and process requirements. The role serves as the primary interface between MSAT, Manufacturing, Engineering, CQV, and Automation departments, translating process intent into structured automation deliverables that enable safe, compliant, scalable, and reproducible operations.
As a member of the Global Engineering Delivery organization, the Process Automation Lead leads a team of specialists and external resources responsible for process automation definition, recipe design, and digital innovation initiatives supporting both capital projects and legacy assets. The role ensures standardization of automation methodologies, lifecycle management of process automation deliverables, and implementation of digital solutions that improve efficiency, consistency, and operational excellence.
What you will do:
Lead the process automation function at project level, focusing on process automation strategy, recipe development, and integration of process requirements into automation solutions.
Define, govern, and drive process automation scope for capital growth projects and selected legacy asset improvement initiatives.
Serve as the primary interface between Manufacturing, MSAT, Engineering, CQV, and Automation teams to ensure alignment of process requirements and automation implementation.
Lead the development and standardization of process automation deliverables, including functional diagrams, functional specifications, parameter tables, operating concepts, and process control strategies.
Own and continuously improve process automation standards, methodologies, templates, and best practices across Global Engineering projects.
Drive digitalization initiatives within process automation, including AI-enabled recipe parametrization tools, automation troubleshooting solutions, structured specification generation, and other digital innovation programs.
Lead, mentor, and coordinate a project team of consultants, and external contractors supporting process automation activities.
Support FATs, SATs, commissioning, qualification, startup, and troubleshooting activities, ensuring alignment between process requirements and automation execution.
What we are looking for:
BSc or MSc in Sciences or related field
Demonstrate strong technical leadership in process automation and recipe-based manufacturing systems
Strong expertise in process control concepts, batch automation, and recipe management methodologies
Ability to translate complex process requirements into structured automation specifications and technical documentation
Strong knowledge of DeltaV and modern DCS platforms from a requirements and process perspective
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a structured and data-driven approach
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority
Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across Engineering, Manufacturing, MSAT, and Automation organizations
