Job Description

The Senior Manager, Product Management , reporting to the Director, Product Management is responsible for all Product Management and Product Development initiatives for a portfolio of Products and Services.

The Senior Manager, Product Management will oversee and lead: the implementation of new products and service augmentations, measurement of product performance, pricing exercises and decisions, customer service improvements, the stimulation of marketing promotions and campaigns (in conjunction with Marketing Communications teams) and provide channel support.

Working closely with the Integrated Marketing and Enterprise sales teams, the Senior Manager will monitor product performance and implement changes that drive tangible revenue and customer results and meet product objectives.

This incumbent serves as the leader for a team that consists of Product Managers who will directly manage a portfolio of services, while also providing strategic direction and leadership for service development and enhancement.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Select, lead, coach/mentor, direct and manage (including conducting performance appraisals, discipline/work plans when required, Attendance Management Program when required) a team of Product Managers. This also includes development and enhancing competencies for the incumbents.
  • Manage prioritization of all initiatives related to the Product Portfolio and assignment of team resources to achieve consolidated revenue, subscriber, and customer satisfaction targets including development and successful execution of the product roadmap and corporate strategic priorities.
  • Responsibility for overall performance of the complete portfolio of services managed by the team, including the attainment of:
  • Revenue and ARPU targets
  • Subscriber unit, market share, and penetration targets
  • Retention/Churn targets
  • Cost targets
  • EBITDA targets
  • CSAT targets
  • Work closely with the Marketing and/or Sales to:
  • Develop promotional and communication programs including the development of key messages and market tactics
  • Defining target market, segmentation, and positioning.
  • Develop and manage Customer and Product Value Proposition for the portfolio of services in scope, evaluate customer needs, match to existing products, and where gaps are identified, define bundling and product development opportunities.
  • Manage and own consolidated revenue forecast (for the specific portfolio of services assigned).
  • Manage and ensure Regulatory compliance for all products in an assigned portfolio.
  • Lead annual business planning and roadmap development process for the Portfolio of services assigned. Proactively interface with other departments, to be closely engaged as a key contributor to the development of the corporate roadmap and strategic plan.
  • Serve as Project Sponsor on initiatives related to the Product Portfolio.
  • Drive transition to increased accountability for Operational Efficiency and Customer Efficiency functions to the relevant Operational Business Units (i.e. Network management, support/assurance, systems, customer care, and billing).
  • Develop and manage consolidated service profitability goals and metrics to manage key product related expenses. This accountability includes the development of tactics to improve product line EBITDA results.
  • Participate fully in our organizational health and safety programs, adhering to all safe work practices and procedures and staying focused on continuous improvement. In addition, ensuring all Accident Prevention Program (APP’s) training, all Code of Business Conduct (CoBC) training, and all other Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training are completed on time.
  • Perform timely completion of all administrative tasks including, but not limited to time reporting, expense reporting and submission of corporate card statements, as applicable.

Knowledge And Skills Required

  • This position requires a business or marketing degree (an MBA is an asset).
  • Five to seven years of previous Leadership experience in the Internet Services, Cable, TV, Wireless, and/or other Telecommunications fields.
  • Excellent analytical, financial, business modelling, technical, interpersonal, communication (oral, written and presentation), planning/project management, staff management/leadership skills are required.
  • Knowledge of the elements of a health & safety program will be considered an asset.

Nature And Scope

This position leads all product management related aspects of the portfolio of services assigned. The Senior Manager, Product Management must work effectively within the department and across the organization to define, develop, and implement new opportunities.

Typical Contacts:

Internal contacts include executives and managers across the consolidated company to discuss and evaluate potential new business opportunities and share learnings. This position has contact with several departments such as Design and Implementation, Information Technology, Planning, Customer Experience groups, Marketing, Sales, Legal, etc. for the purpose of information gathering when introducing new services or coordination of the Portfolio services.

External contacts include other Service Providers for information/ideas on new products; -; consultants for development and implementation of solutions and/or product/service offerings; equipment vendors and suppliers; and private sector entrepreneurs in order to explore new opportunities in the areas of service provision and related value added services; suppliers or vendors for evaluation or purchase of technical products/solutions.

Working Conditions:

This position works in a typical office environment. Incumbent will occasionally have to travel throughout Northwestel’s operating area
