Job Description

Transport for NSW is embarking on a bold Procurement Transformation Program. We’re establishing a dedicated, centralised Procurement branch within our Finance, Technology & Commercial Division.

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of procurement in NSW. As we implement a new operating model, you’ll be at the forefront of driving reform and innovation across all procurement functions at Transport for NSW, one of the largest procuring agencies in the country.

In this role you’ll:

  • Report to the Director Contract & Supplier Development within our centralised Procurement branch
  • Lead our commercial and benefits realisation strategy, shaping how we maximise value across NSW's largest infrastructure portfolio through strong governance, structured benefits tracking and reporting and delivery of sustainable financial and non-financial outcomes
  • Oversee enterprise-level commercial insights, analytics and performance reporting ensuring transparency of value levers, benefits realisation, market trends and financial outcomes to inform executive decision-making and organisational planning
  • Foster a high-performance culture where procurement professionals innovate and build meaningful partnerships that deliver both economic and social value for NSW communities
  • Develop robust yet flexible commercial governance frameworks that ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, probity and financial control requirements while enabling agile responses to dynamic market conditions and evolving community needs
  • Drive strategic negotiations and commercial relationships that strengthens value for money, manage commercial risk, enhance supply chain resilience, and create opportunities for diverse supplier communities, including local and Aboriginal businesses
  • Drive procurement transformation by implementing contemporary best practices, uplifting commercial capability, embedding mature benefits assurance processes and championing a culture of commercial excellence that supports Transport for NSW's vision for the future
  • Lead cultural transformation, mentor future leaders, and build strategic capabilities that position Transport for NSW as an employer of choice in public sector procurement.

About you

A strategic commercial leader with proven experience in managing complex contracts and supplier relationships in large organisations, ideally government. You bring deep expertise in procurement and benefits realisation, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive transformational change. Your commercial acumen and strong governance mindset enable you to balance risk and innovation effectively.

Your leadership style inspires high performance, and you have a track record of building capability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. With relevant qualifications or equivalent experience, you're ready to make your mark in public sector procurement!
