The Senior Manager, Pricing Strategy & Competitive Intelligence leads go-to-market pricing and lifecycle value optimization for a market leading multi-brand retail customer portfolio; he / she actively evaluates competitive landscape, monitors commodity costs, develops pricing / product-mix strategy, evaluates sales campaign performance and manages strategic lifecycle pricing initiatives for residential customers

He / She will also leverage advanced analytics and build sophisticated financial models to optimize customer counts & margin delivery, as well as utilize strong project management skills to ensure a flawless rollout of key initiatives

The Sr Manager directly oversees 3 analysts and collaborates with Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics teams to execute data-driven decision-making

He / she works cross-functionally with key stakeholders, including channel Directors & key Executives, to ensure successful implementation of customer pricing initiatives & to achieve our financial objectives

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage development & ongoing analysis of pricing strategies for multiple brands and guide successful execution; lead complex deep dives to analyze performance of initiatives and recommend strategic changes to improve outcomes
  • Lead recurring process to recommend, gain approval and execute acquisition and retention pricing for the residential line of business; achieve margin goals while supporting company-wide efforts to improve customer count performance
  • Monitor margin of existing book to recommend and execute initiatives that deliver on residential financial targets; develop complex financial models to optimize pricing for customers throughout their life cycles
  • Leverage analytics to identify unique customer segments and develop treatment paths to optimize value; create test scenarios to evaluate efficacy of proposed strategies and collaborate with business stakeholders to implement
  • Actively project manage the rollout of key initiatives through cross-functional teams, providing analysis expertise, offering original perspectives, and challenging the conventional view to align decision-making and adapt to changing market conditions
  • Work collaboratively with channel leaders, marketing services, operations, financial planning & accounting, product development, legal & regulatory, wholesale, and other support functions to develop support new initiatives, products, and services

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

  • 8-10 years significant professional experience in a strategy, pricing or consulting role; 10+ years preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Economics or related field
  • Demonstrated track record of increased work responsibility as well as some exposure to executive leadership
  • Experience working in and achieving strong results in a fast-paced competitive consumer services business
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite (excel and powerpoint) required
  • Experience with Python, SQL (or similar) coding preferred; comfortable with manipulating and analyzing big data to identify actionable segments and insights

Key Metrics

  • Achievement of profitability targets (EBITDA, Contribution Margin) in current year plan and Long Range Plan
  • Achievement of Customer Count targets in current year plan and Long Range Plan
  • Analysts under the Sr Manager should show demonstrable improvement and growth over time
  • Demonstration of effective collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders, peers, and direct reports
  • Development of clear, concise, and effective reporting and executive-level presentations
  • Demonstration of the ability to adapt quickly to changing strategic situations, design recommendations that address the issues, and build cross-functional consensus to drive needed change
