Job Description

Lead Transport's crucial parliamentary liaison function and be the key interface between Transport and the NSW Parliament.

Transport for NSW is building a contemporary Government & Parliamentary Services Branch (G&PS). We’re bringing together Government Relations, Capability & Insights, Customer Resolution, Parliamentary Liaison, and Ministerial Engagement & Services, with Government Business & Services as a key delivery partner for all our products.

We’ve stood up the branch and are now moving through a deliberate embed and uplift journey/ We’re strengthening ways of working, establishing operating rhythms, streamlining our systems and process, and building purposeful, caring and courageous teams as we transition from implementation into business‑as‑usual.

This role is pivotal to that ambition, leading Transport’s enterprise‑wide Parliamentary Liaison function and helping us realise a best‑in‑sector vision for parliamentary support across Transport.

In this role you'll

  • Lead Transport’s Parliamentary Liaison function, including support for Ministers on sitting days, responses to parliamentary questions, notices of motion speeches, coordination of Parliamentary Inquiries and Budget Estimates.
  • Drive forward planning and programming of upcoming parliamentary business (questions, debates, legislation, inquiries, sittings and election periods), setting clear priorities and direction for the team.
  • Monitor Parliament in real time and provide analysis and advice on emerging issues and contentious matters, including impacts, priorities and required actions for Transport divisions and agencies.
  • Lead enterprise‑wide Budget Estimates preparation as a flagship program, taking a program management approach to end‑to‑end delivery, coordinating briefing material, data and responses across client divisions, rail operators and agencies, and supporting witnesses.
  • Work collegiately across the G&PS SLT during non‑sitting periods to support capability uplift and continuous improvement, including surge support across the branch during peak workload periods.

This is a permanent Transport Senior Service Manager (TSSM) position offering an attractive renumeration package. For more information on this position and business unit, please view the and information pack

About You

You’re a calm, credible leader with extensive understanding of State Government systems, policies, and practices, including the workings of a Ministerial Office, Parliament, and Cabinet. You will possess demonstrated high-level communication skills, including the ability to write in plain English and critically analyse complex information.

You can set direction, bring others with you, and coach a team to deliver consistently high‑quality work under pressure. You’ll bring strong influencing and stakeholder management capabilities across diverse senior stakeholders and operational teams, coupled with sound judgment in handling sensitive and contentious issues in political frameworks with competing deadlines.

This is your opportunity to lead strategic initiatives that transform our approach to Parliamentary Liaison!
