Job Description

The New York Post is heading West – and this is your chance to be a part of history as we open a brand-new newsroom and make a significant investment in Los Angeles. The California Post will be a game changer, putting the people of the Golden State first and holding the powerful to account across digital platforms and print.

This is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: The California Post will bring The New York Post’s DNA of powerful, agenda-setting journalism to the West Coast and be a fresh and fearless voice for common sense.

Our focus will also go well beyond hard-hitting news and iconoclastic opinion. The nationally recognized Page Six will bring its sassy and brassy attitude directly to the entertainment capital of the world. The California Post Sports department will deliver muscular coverage of the biggest teams in town, from the locker room to the front office. Our Tech team will reveal the latest innovators and innovations that will shape the nation’s future.

Los Angeles is one of the great cities of the world, and it’s time L.A. – and California at large – had a bold, new voice. The California Post will be that voice. California, here we come!

We are currently seeking a dynamic and passionate Senior Manager of Newsletter and Notifications Strategy to join our California Post team. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Audience Development (California Post) and is primarily responsible for driving the California Post’s direct-to-reader strategy, with a focus on push notifications and newsletter growth and engagement. You’ll shape how we connect with audiences on mobile and email, building loyal relationships and turning casual readers into daily

regulars.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive and execute the strategy for email and web push notifications for breaking news, exclusives, key coverage and various California Post content verticals.

  • Partner with editors to balance speed and editorial judgment — ensuring alerts are fast and relevant.

  • Develop segmentation and automation strategies to serve the right alerts to the right readers.

  • Coordinate with New York Post teams to align alert strategy and coverage priorities.

  • Oversee the California Post’s newsletter portfolio — from launch to growth and performance optimization.

  • Skilled at crafting compelling narrative newsletters and curating story selections that resonate with readers.

  • Collaborate with editorial leads to define newsletter formats and content strategies.

  • Lead email subscriber acquisition strategies (organic and paid).

  • Use performance data to inform content and cadence decisions.

  • Develop experiments to test new newsletter formats, subject lines, and audience engagement tactics.

  • Translate data into actionable insights that guide editorial and product decisions.

  • Collaborate with the New York Post’s central audience team to share learnings, coordinate growth initiatives, and scale best practices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital audience development and/or digital marketing; newsroom or media experience preferred.

  • Proven success managing push and/or newsletter programs.

  • Demonstrable track record of growing online audiences and driving email newsletter subscriptions.

  • Hands-on experience with major ESPs (Sailthru preferred), including an understanding of backend metrics, deliverability, and campaign execution.

  • Experience with tools such as Airship, Google Analytics, and Parse.ly.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Knowledge of digital media trends and emerging platforms.

  • Proficiency in metrics-based decision-making, with an emphasis on reading and interpreting data.

  • Ability to be both a self-starter and a team player; strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

  • Ability to balance priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment.

  • Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Passion for all things digital.

Note: This role will be expected to report on-site 5 days per week.

At The New York Post we recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, our ranges reflect our good faith estimate to pay fairly as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.

In addition to compensation, the company provides eligible employees a comprehensive and highly competitive benefits package, with a variety of physical health, retirement and savings, caregiving, emotional wellbeing, transportation, and other benefits, including “elective” benefits employees may select to best fit the needs and personal situations of our diverse workforce.

The New York Post will consider the provision of reasonable accommodations to known physical or mental disabilities of otherwise qualified applicants to enable them to participate in our application process and to effectively perform the essential functions of the job, unless doing so would impose an undue financial or operational hardship.
