The position

As the Sr Manager, Medical Science Liaison (Senior Manager MSL) at Novo Nordisk Canada with the Cardiometa-bolic team, you will lead and develop a field-based MSL team to translate medical strategy into high-impact territory plans. You will ensure scientific excellence, compliance with Canadian regulatory standards, and the effective capture and elevation of field insights to inform broader medical and business decisions. Your role balances hands on coaching, stakeholder engagement and cross functional collaboration to optimize patient care and team performance.
Some of your responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a diverse team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to deliver on terri-tory action plans and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement.
  • Ensure MSL team excellence through continuous in-field coaching, performance manage-ment, and rigorous onboarding standards.
  • Oversee field operational excellence, including tactical plan execution, budgets, and high-quality CRM (Veeva) documentation.
  • Lead the field execution of the cardiometabolic medical strategy across Ontario and Quebec.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with top-tier Canadian KOLs and regional institu-tions.
  • Act as the strategic conduit between the Head Office and field teams to align tactics with overall Medical Affairs priorities.
  • Navigate organisational changes and team flux, ensuring stability and engagement during periods of turnover or leave coverage.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

Need to have:

  • Advanced scientific or healthcare degree (MD, PharmD, or PhD preferred; master’s with strong experience considered).
  • Minimum 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 3 years as an MSL and 2-3 years as a people manager.
  • Deep understanding of the Canadian healthcare and regulatory landscape (Health Canada, PAAB, IMC).
  • Proven ability to coach advanced scientific discussions and manage field-based operational excellence.
  • Based in Ontario (GTA preferred) with the ability to travel up to 80%, including frequent overnights and coverage of Quebec.
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada with a valid driver’s license.

Nice to have:

  • Fully bilingual (English/French) to support Quebec-based stakeholders and experience in a matrix/head office environment.

About the department

Reporting to the Associate Medical Director, you will lead a team of MSLs while collaborating with Head Office colleagues and other Therapeutic Area Senior Manager MSLs. You will also work closely with subject matter experts in the Medical and Field Excellence team to ensure appropriate insights, ana-lytics, and reporting, as well as training for the field medical teams. The department fosters a collabo-rative and cross-therapeutic environment, where your leadership will contribute to achieving Novo Nordisk's mission of improving patient outcomes.

Salary: For this role the Annual Base Salary ranges from $136,310 – $186,310.

The placement in the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on your skills, competencies, knowledge and relevant experience match the position requirements

Incentives Based on the role’s level and other factors, the salary package may include short-term (STI) and/or long-term (LTI) incentives.
