Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Market Access & Government Affairs, the Senior Manager, Market Access & Government Affairs is responsible for building and leveraging relationships with regional stakeholders and provides strategic direction and field intelligence for development of reimbursement strategies for Eisai brands with a focus on Ontario. This individual will also be responsible for executing reimbursement tactical plans and stakeholder advocacy programs. The successful candidate must have the ability (expertise) to thrive in an ambiguous environment, have a sense of urgency, leadership and self-starting initiative.

Essential Functions

  • Develop long term relationships with Provincial Drug Plans, Provincial/National Healthcare Agencies, Provincial Ministries of Health, Private Payers, and Patient Advocacy Groups.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all stakeholder/customer needs, value drivers, and systems/processes, and develop innovative strategies to deliver value and satisfy customer needs which support the brand strategy and corporate objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Director to develop provincial and private payer reimbursement strategies and submission dossiers.
  • Execute regional market access strategies to increase understanding of Eisai’s business and issues among policy makers and influential third parties with a focus in Ontario.
  • Explore regional barriers to market access and provide strategic direction to develop and execute provincial market access programs.
  • Manage the listing negotiation process with the Director.
  • Leverage key stakeholder networks to influence policy makers in matters of access and pricing.
  • Work with Innovative Medicines Canada and BIOtech Canada in achieving associated Policy & Market Access objectives.
  • Actively share insights, knowledge and experience with members of the broader team, and contributes to collaborative efforts across the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree; MBA is a strong asset as is a health sciences background.
  • 8-10 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry in a market access and government affairs capacity and/or in government/stakeholder relations functions.
  • Previous experience and success with stakeholder advocacy and education initiatives.
  • Strong business analytics skills, understanding of commercial objectives and processes.
  • Capacity to analyze competitive intelligence and adapt plans accordingly.
  • Ideally current relationships with key external stakeholders including Ontario based leaders.
  • Ideally strong understanding of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) strategies and some experience with submissions development.
  • Awareness of current political leadership and government health policy trends.
  • Past service on related Innovative Medicines Canada (formerly RX&D) / BIOTECanada committees would be a valued asset.
  • Oncology, and neurology experience would be a valued asset.
  • Must be a dedicated team player.
  • Can budget and manage expenses to planned targets.
  • Must be able to adapt to a changing environment and be able to manage multiple priorities at one time.
  • Strong results orientation.
  • Superb written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates pride in organization and will contribute to Eisai human health care (hhc) vision.
  • Can model Eisai values of professionalism, integrity, quality and respect in the work environment.
  • Bilingual (English-French) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, in addition to exceptional information technology aptitude (social media, MS Office products, etc.).
