The Role


The role of Senior Manager Manufacturing Engineering is to lead Manufacturing Engineering with both strategic vision and hands-on execution. You’ll ensure machines and sub-assemblies are built to the highest quality, on time, and to specification.
Own the introduction of new products, processes, tooling, and tests, while quickly resolving manufacturing challenges.

Drive seamless product transfers across sites and partner with global engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure readiness, capability, and continuous improvement. Deliver strong day-to-day leadership with clear reporting on performance, risks, and results.

You will

  • Define and execute the long-term manufacturing engineering strategy to support global business growth.
  • Influence global manufacturing direction through collaboration with senior leaders across UK and Asia operations.
  • Establish and govern engineering standards, processes, and best practices across the organisation.
  • Lead the Manufacturing Engineering department from product design through to volume manufacture.
  • Drive productivity improvement, cost reduction, and process optimisation using Lean tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Find solutions to mitigate material related production disruptions.
  • Oversee development of the Test Engineering function, ensuring delivery of robust test strategies and solutions for global production.
  • Ensure tooling, equipment, and manufacturing assets are designed, procured, and deployed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure work instructions for all series produced products are drafted and released to Production and maintained accordingly.
  • Maintain 6S across all engineering and production support areas.
  • Build a high performing engaged Manufacturing Engineering organisation with clear roles, accountabilities, and development pathway through coaching, mentoring, and structured development pathways.
  • Ensure effective communication across global teams, enabling alignment and shared ownership of objectives.
  • Act as the senior engineering interface with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D and Global Operations.
  • Represent Manufacturing Engineering in global programme reviews, operational planning, and strategic decision-making forums.
  • Single point accountability for Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering alignment between Weymouth and Malaysia.
  • Own the Manufacturing Engineering budget, including headcount, operational expenditure, and business travel.
  • Manage capital investment planning for manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that could impact cost, quality, or delivery performance.

About You


You’re a driven engineering leader with a strong track record in delivering complex manufacturing projects. With a solid engineering background, you bring expertise in machining, fabrication, and electro-mechanical assembly.

A strong people manager, you build and lead high-performing teams, creating a culture of accountability, quality, and results. You’re a confident communicator, comfortable working across global teams and stakeholders, with a practical, problem-solving mindset and a focus on continuous improvement.

You Will / Have:

  • A qualification in Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering (MSc, BSc, HND or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated success in managing and delivering complex, cross‑functional engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of modern manufacturing methods including machining, fabrication, and electro‑mechanical assembly.
  • Competence in NX or 3D CAD/CAE.
  • Excellent communication skills across diverse cultural and technical groups.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma/DMAIC.
  • Understanding of mouldings, castings, and extrusions.
  • Experience with 3D printing technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams.
  • Flexibility to travel to other ASMPT and Supplier sites when needed.
