Job Description


I. Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Liability Claims is responsible for leading and overseeing the Company's liability claims management activities, including the supervision and development of Liability Claims Managers and the strategic management of existing and potential liability exposures. This role is accountable for the identification, evaluation, mitigation, and resolution of liability claims while developing and implementing proactive claims management strategies designed to reduce financial exposure, accelerate claim resolution, and improve overall claim outcomes. The Senior Manager, Liability Claims partners closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure a consistent, disciplined, and data-driven approach to claims management and litigation strategy, supporting the Company's broader risk management objectives and protecting organizational value.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, mentor, and oversee a team of Claims Managers, establishing performance expectations and promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement effective claims management strategies designed to accelerate claim resolution, reduce total cost of risk, and minimize the Company’s exposure to liability-related losses.
  • Oversee the evaluation, management, and resolution of complex liability claims, ensuring consistent application of best practices and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Safety, Legal, Human Resources, Operations, and other functional teams to ensure coordinated management of claims and associated risk exposures.
  • Partner with internal and external legal counsel to develop effective litigation strategies, including case evaluation, settlement approaches, defense planning, and management of high-exposure matters.
  • Assist in the selection, engagement, and strategic oversight of outside counsel, ensuring quality representation, effective case management, and appropriate management of legal spend.
  • Provide direction and oversight to third-party claims administrators and adjusters to ensure timely claim handling, adherence to established service standards, and achievement of desired claim outcomes.
  • Monitor and analyze claim trends, litigation developments, and national and jurisdictional changes impacting liability exposure and claim management practices, and recommend appropriate strategic responses.
  • Utilize claim analytics, reporting, and performance metrics to identify emerging risks, evaluate claim performance, and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and operational initiatives designed to strengthen claim management effectiveness and improve organizational risk outcomes.


III. Qualifications

A. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Administration, or similar area of study, and seven to ten years of previous liability claims experience.
  • No experience seven to ten years of previous experience. and


B. Preferred Qualifications

  • No experience seven to ten years of previous experience.
