/PURPOSE

Sr. Manager, Construction Management to lead a high-performing team of construction professionals in the successful execution of capital projects. This position manages construction activities for all Segment 4 projects ($100M and greater) that are typically at the $250M level with or without Customer Focus. May manage a portfolio of projects between $250M to $1.5B with or without Customer Focus. Bonafide leader of people who is widely respected and trusted by Entergy's Contract Partners and possess the ability to quickly understand construction culture while mentoring others on effective construction leadership. Strong advocate for the partnering process and continuous improvement.

This position will be strategically dedicated to a business unit portfolio of transmission and distribution projects aimed at delivering projects and holding safety as a top priority. Leverage team expertise to optimize portfolio execution to exceed internal, customer, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a competitive edge with operational efficiency. The candidate will lead a team of direct, matrixed, and contract resources in the safe execution of the program with high quality. Ensure that the projects are staffed with qualified construction management professionals and field personnel for the oversight of construction contractors and their subcontractors. The candidate will collaborate closely with major stakeholders, including contractors and support teams at Entergy. The candidate must actively promote workplace safety, participate in site safety initiatives, and help foster a strong safety culture.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as visible leader in the execution of a capital portfolio, ensuring alignment with company goals and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement construction management frameworks, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Lead team in developing comprehensive construction plans including work sequence, outages, and resource requirements. Ensures outages are identified to minimize customer impacts, and Risk reviews are completed for those Tier 1 customers and generators.
  • Lead and mentor a team of construction professionals responsible for capital project execution
  • Lead team to execute projects in accordance with the applicable corporate standards, guidelines, policies and processes. Ensures that team members fulfill their responsibilities as required of their roles.
  • Provide technical, operational, and strategic guidance to direct reports and matrixed employees
  • Mentor and build organizational technical knowledge to achieve corporate and project results
  • Communicate and enforce safety standards across all construction activities, including direct oversight of site practices, contractor performance monitoring, and proactive coaching to ensure adherence to safety protocols and leading indicators.
  • Establish/track leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members, and the end user.
  • Provides input into the creation of construction quality standards and practices that are owned by the Power delivery Chief Engineer for projects executed by Entergy Project Delivery business unit.
  • Ensure internal/external compliance with all applicable regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols throughout project execution.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal/external stakeholders including but limited to, project management, engineering, supply chain, suppliers, and construction partners.
  • Communicate clear expectations for safety, quality, and performance; resolve performance issues proactively
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure the delivery of services and materials within project/program expectations.
  • Work with Supply Chain on procurement, negotiation, and administration of construction and equipment supply agreements
  • Work with stakeholder groups and Supply Chain to ensure standards and safety requirements are integrated into all construction contracts.
  • Interface with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies regarding specific project needs where appropriate
  • Track construction costs across contractors to drive cost competitiveness; monitor cost performance against budget and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Monitor contractor performance in safety, schedule, cost, quality of work, and contractual compliance
  • Establish, track, and report KPIs to measure portfolio execution and performance
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels regarding project progress, risks, and opportunities
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in construction management processes
  • Participate in lessons-learned reviews and process optimization initiatives
  • Develop construction leaders and create a construction leadership pipeline to ensure organizational capability and succession planning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field OR 4 years equivalent/related work experience (in addition to the Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of a degree.
  • Preferred: Advanced Degree Preferred - MBA, Masters in Engineering, Construction, Project Management.

Minimum experience:

  • 8 years in Utility industry or equivalent relevant experience in capital project management and 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Preferred candidate would have at least 5 years of transmission construction experience plus 2 or more years of power generation plant major project experience.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Engaged leader with a documented legacy of strategic leadership with specific accomplishments in successfully delivering capital projects/portfolios.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams to effectively achieve desired results and leading in a matrixed environment.
  • Solid understanding of construction fundamentals and stage-gate processes focused on safely delivering a large portfolio of Power Delivery projects with cost, schedule and scope certainty.
  • Expert in project and construction management fundamentals.
  • Expert in risk and contingency management.
  • Skilled at leading and influencing across organizations, partnering with contract firms, negotiation, obtaining stakeholder input and support, driving continuous improvement ideas, improving organizational health, transforming organizations and improving customer centricity.
  • Able to build, motivate and inspire effective teams and leverage team diversity.
  • Expert at managing conflict, providing clear direction/role clarity and developing employees. Comfortable engaging in crucial conversations.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology for distribution and transmission systems. This includes applying principles, techniques and procedures to the design, construction, commissioning and operations of Transmission Substation, Transmission Lines, Distribution Lines, or Electrical Power Generating facilities.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of Transmission Substation, Transmission Lines, Distribution Lines, or Electrical Power Generating facilities.
  • History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership experience, team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.
  • Knowledge of Effective Estimating Practices.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, interpersonal & group communication skills
  • Strong PlanningOrganizationTime Management skills
