Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Industrial Relations & Employee Relations

  • Foster a stable and productive industrial relations environment across the terminal.
  • Lead employee relations matters including grievance handling, disciplinary actions, domestic enquiries, and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor industrial relations risks and implement preventive and corrective measures.
  • Support collective bargaining, workforce consultations, and employee communication initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Standing Orders, Code of Conduct, HR policies, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Develop and maintain IR dashboards, analytics, and management reports.

Statutory Compliance & Regulatory Affairs

  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, statutory regulations, and port-specific requirements.
  • Liaise with labour authorities, regulatory bodies, and government agencies.
  • Manage statutory inspections, audits, licenses, registrations, permits, and regulatory filings.
  • Coordinate labour litigation and legal matters in consultation with legal counsel.
  • Maintain compliance records, registers, returns, and governance MIS.

Stakeholder & Community Relations

  • Act as the primary interface with external stakeholders and community representatives.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with trade unions, local communities, fishermen associations, industry bodies, and government agencies.
  • Manage stakeholder concerns and facilitate timely resolution of operational and community-related issues.
  • Support business continuity during labour unrest, community issues, protests, and operational disruptions.
  • Conduct stakeholder mapping, engagement planning, and risk assessments.

Sustainability

  • Plan and implement CSR initiatives aligned with business and community priorities.
  • Collaborate with NGOs, educational institutions, local bodies, and government agencies on community development programs.
  • Drive employee volunteering and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor CSR performance and prepare governance and impact reports.
  • Support ESG, sustainability, and responsible business initiatives.

Administration & Estate Management

  • Oversee administration of terminal facilities, welfare amenities, office infrastructure, and accommodation facilities.
  • Manage canteen, housekeeping, transportation, travel, and employee welfare services.
  • Ensure effective utilization, maintenance, and security of company assets and facilities.
  • Drive workplace excellence, 5S, and facility improvement initiatives.

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Manage contracts and performance of service providers across administration and welfare services.
  • Monitor vendor compliance, service levels, contractual obligations, and budgets.
  • Conduct periodic vendor reviews, audits, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure timely contract administration, renewals, invoicing, and issue resolution.

Safety, Security & Emergency Preparedness

  • Coordinate with Security, HSE, Operations, and external agencies on safety, security, and industrial relations matters.
  • Support emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity programs.
  • Facilitate occupational health initiatives and statutory medical examinations.
  • Support compliance with ISO standards, ISPS Code, and HSE management systems.
  • Ensure adherence to Company Health, Safety & Environment policies and applicable legislation.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Graduate with a Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Labour Welfare, Personnel Management, or a related discipline.
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in Industrial Relations, Employee Relations, Statutory Compliance, Administration, and Contract Labour Management.
  • Experience in ports, logistics, infrastructure, manufacturing, or other labour-intensive industries preferred.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management, labour negotiations, and regulatory liaison.
  • Proficiency in statutory and regulatory portals including EPFO, ESIC, Shram Suvidha, CLRA, Labour Department, and related platforms.
  • Experience in compliance monitoring through digital systems, dashboards, analytics, and MIS reporting.
  • Proficiency in English and Malayalam is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Tamil and Hindi will be an added advantage.
