
This is a newly created role to strengthen the Internal Financial Controls (IFC) framework within the Finance function. The role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring a robust Internal Financial Control framework. The position will work closely with internal stakeholders, auditors, and leadership to ensure effective governance, compliance, and risk management across financial processes.
The role will play a key role in building sustainable control processes and enhancing financial governance across the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Internal Financial Control Framework
Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive Internal Financial Control (IFC) framework aligned with the requirements of Companies Act.
Develop and maintain Risk and Control Matrix (RCM) covering key financial processes across the organisation.
Work with cross-functional teams to embed preventive and detective controls across finance and business processes.
Ensure alignment of internal control framework with global governance practices and internal policies.
2. Control Implementation & Monitoring
Drive implementation of internal financial controls across key finance processes including accounting, treasury, procurement, revenue, and financial reporting.
Establish processes to periodically test the design and operating effectiveness of controls.
Identify control gaps and drive remediation plans with relevant stakeholders.
Ensure strong documentation of controls, process narratives, and supporting evidence.
Develop and maintain a robust MIS /dashboard for monitoring key internal financial controls, including deficiencies identified, remediation progress.
3. Governance & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure internal financial controls meet requirements for Companies Act and other regulations.
Support management and Board in IFC reporting and certification requirements.
Lead the process for Board / Audit Committee sign-offs related to Internal Financial Controls.
Conduct periodic training sessions for process owners and finance teams to strengthen understanding of internal controls, governance requirements
4. Policy & SOP Development
Develop, document, and periodically update finance policies, process narratives, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Continuously review policies and processes to strengthen governance and mitigate financial risks.
Ensure policies are aligned with regulatory changes and best practices.
5. Audit & Stakeholder Coordination
Work closely with internal auditors, statutory auditors, and group auditors to provide assurance on internal control effectiveness.
Support audit processes by providing required documentation and control testing results.
Track audit observations related to controls and ensure timely remediation and closure.
6. Transformation & Continuous Improvement
Lead initiatives to strengthen the organisation’s internal control environment and enhance financial governance.
Drive automation and system-based controls in collaboration with IT and finance teams.
Identify opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes.
QUALIFICATION:
Essential/Must-have: Chartered accountant or equivalent
Desirable/Good to have: Certifications in Risk Management / Internal Controls
Essential/Must-have:
5–8 years of post-qualification experience in internal controls, risk management, audit, or finance governance roles.
Experience in designing and implementing Internal Financial Control (IFC) frameworks.
Prior experience in large multinational organisations preferred.

Ability to identify control gaps and implement effective remediation plans

Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, IT, compliance, and business teams
