GIANT (Grifols Innovation and New Technologies) is Grifols’ external innovation team, dedicated to identifying, evaluating, and advancing high-value external opportunities that strengthen the company’s R&D pipeline and support long-term growth. As part of the Scientific Innovation Office (SIO), GIANT brings together senior scientific, medical, and operational expertise to source and assess external R&D opportunities, monitor emerging technologies and competitive trends, and actively manage selected collaborations, partnerships, and investments. Organized around Grifols’ priority therapeutic areas, GIANT helps diversify the pipeline beyond plasma while ensuring strong strategic alignment with the company’s scientific and business priorities.The Innovation Senior Manager coordinates all GIANT team activities, ensuring effective execution across key domains:

·Search and evaluation of external innovation opportunities, ensuring high-quality and timely evaluations and efficient reporting to SIO and Grifols leadership.

·Technological vigilance and competitive intelligence activities in the areas of competency, including processes across business units and teams, ensuring that information is reliable, comparable, and fit for reporting purposes.

·Lead budget preparation and monitoring

·Engage internal stakeholders to promote innovation and cross-functional alignment, thereby supporting excellence at Grifols level as well as external stakeholders to foster strategic collaborations, enhance innovation within the ecosystem, and ensure efficient operational support, ultimately driving Grifols' growth and influence at both the Catalan and Spanish levels

·Play a critical role to ensure strategic alignment, operational efficiency, cross-functional collaboration, and effective documentation within GIANT, SIO, and Grifols

What are your responsibilities:

  • GIANT Deal flow management:
    • End-to-end management of external innovation opportunities, ensuring systematic evaluation, prioritization, and progression in line with strategic objectives.
    • Responsible for defining and maintaining governance, processes, and reporting standards for deal flow
  • Support on scouting and evaluation of opportunities
    • Support in the identification and assessment of external opportunities attending partnering conferences and active scouting if needed.
    • Maintain CRM for interactions with alternative deal flow sourcing bodies (VCs, TTOs, accelerators, placement agents, etc.)
    • Accountable for ensuring consistency, quality, and decision readiness across evaluations.
  • Coordinate Technology vigilance activities
    • Coordinate the technology vigilance and competitive intelligences activities across teams and ensuring reliable, comparable insights.
    • Responsible for consolidating and delivering strategic intelligence and KRIs reporting to relevant internal stakeholders as per defined governance and workflows.
  • GIANT budget management:
    • Planning, monitoring, and controlling the GIANT yearly budget
    • Accountable for financial reporting, forecasting, and alignment with KPIs
  • Stakeholders management (Internal and External)
    • Drive effective collaboration across internal stakeholders and ensuring alignment of activities and outputs (Strategy Office, Corporate communications, Corporate affairs, Market intelligence, Cost Controlling, Procurement, Investors relations etc.)
    • Build and manage strategic external relationships within the innovation ecosystem (ASEBIO, Biocat, CATALONIA health, ACCIO, etc) to facilitate Grifols data for reporting, Grifols participation in external initiaves, membership contact person, sponsorships, etc.

Required:

  • PhD in life science with Post-doc, MD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced scientific degree. Preferred: MBA or strong strategic/business training
  • 10+ years in biopharma / biotech / healthcare innovation. Experience in several of: Drug Discovery, Translational Medicine, R&D strategy, External Innovation, Business Development, Search & Evaluation, Alliance Management, Corporate Venture, Venture Capital, Project Management,
  • Knowledge of different Drug modalities, new technologies and platforms in the context of drug discovery and development.
  • Previous demonstrable experience in several of these therapeutic areas: Immunology, autoimmunity, pulmonology, Critical care, infectious diseases.
  • Established network in the Pharma, biotech and venture capital innovation community Critical Competencies
    • Operational and execution excellence ability to identify ways of continuous improvement
    • Strategic Thinking Strong portfolio perspective and white-space identification capability.
    • Ecosystem Fluency Deep understanding of biotech, academic, VC, startup, and pharma innovation landscapes.
    • Partnership Leadership Ability to build trust with high-level external stakeholders.
    • Executive Communication Ability to synthesize complexity into clear strategic recommendations.
    • Deal Acumen Comfort with collaboration structures, risk-sharing models, and licensing concepts.
    • Influence Without Authority Exceptional cross-functional leadership.
    • Decision Quality Strong judgment under uncertainty.

Flexible schedule: Monday-Thursday 7-10 to 16-19h and Friday 8-15h (with the same flexible start time).
