Q2 is a leading provider of digital banking and lending solutions to banks, credit unions, alternative finance companies, and fintechs in the U.S. and internationally. Our mission is simple: build strong and diverse communities through innovative financial technology—and we do that by empowering our people to help create success for our customers.

The Senior Manager, HR Technology is responsible for the administration, optimization, and strategic evolution of Q2's HR technology ecosystem, with an explicit mandate to integrate AI and automation into HR operations. This role owns the Workday HCM platform end-to-end - configuration, security, integrations, and release management - and leads the People function's effort to leverage AI tools, workflow automation, and intelligent technology to drive efficiency and scalability.

Working in close partnership with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), IT, and business stakeholders, this role serves as Q2's primary Workday product owner and AI adoption lead for People Operations. The Senior Manager manages a team of HRIS administrators and analysts and is accountable for data integrity, system reliability, and the ongoing evolution of Q2's HR technology capability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Workday Platform Ownership

  • Own day-to-day administration and optimization of the Workday HCM platform, including configuration, security, integrations, and bi-annual release management.

  • Serve as Q2's primary Workday product owner - maintain the platform roadmap, prioritize enhancements, and manage the backlog in partnership with HR COEs and IT.

  • Oversee Workday module governance across HCM, Total Rewards, Payroll, Talent & Performance, Talent Acquisition, and Security & Integrations.

  • Partner with COEs (Compensation, Benefits, Talent Acquisition) to govern module-level configuration delegated to each COE, maintaining system-wide data standards and consistency.

  • Manage third-party system integrations, ensuring data integrity, operational reliability, and audit readiness.

  • Lead vendor relationships for HR technology platforms; evaluate new tools, negotiate contracts, and manage renewals.

  • Ensure adequate system documentation, training materials, and end-user support resources are maintained and current.

AI & Automation Enablement

  • Build and maintain a HR technology automation roadmap - systematically identify high-volume manual HR processes and lead their elimination or reduction through AI tools, workflow automation, and platform capabilities.

  • Evaluate, pilot, and implement AI tools across HR workflows, including AI agents, intelligent notifications, Microsoft Copilot integrations, and process automation solutions.

  • Partner with Q2’s Risk & Security organization and People leadership to govern the responsible use of AI within the People function, ensuring data privacy, security, and compliance standards are met.

  • Stay current on emerging HR technology and AI trends; educate the team and stakeholders on applicable innovations and build organizational capability over time.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of HRIS Administrators and Analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and technical growth.

  • Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback, development, and mentorship to team members.

  • Collaborate with HR Analytics on data structures, Workday reporting architecture, and system requirements to ensure people data is accurate, accessible, and analysis-ready.

  • Translate business requirements from HR and business stakeholders into technical solutions and system configurations.

  • Proactively communicate system changes, project status, and platform capabilities to HR leadership and impacted stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related field required.

Experience

  • 8-10 years of progressive HRIS or HR technology experience.

  • 3-5 years of people management experience.

  • Workday or similar HCM experience required; multi-module depth strongly preferred (HCM, ERP, Payroll, Talent, Security, Integrations).

  • Demonstrated experience implementing or operating AI tools, workflow automation, or intelligent technology in an HR or enterprise context.

  • Experience working within a COE-structured HR model preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage a complex backlog and competing priorities without dropping execution quality.

  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and business requirements into technical specifications for systems teams.

  • Analytical mindset with attention to data quality, process design, and system governance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to HR leadership.

  • High comfort with ambiguity and demonstrated ability to build structure in evolving environments.

  • Collaborative, low-ego working style with a track record of effective cross-functional partnership.

This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.
