Job Description

As Senior Manager Hearing Performance, you will shape how Sonova’s next generation of hearing instruments perform and sound in the real world. You will lead a team of hearing performance engineers and Functional Experts and take end-to-end ownership of translating cutting-edge algorithmic innovation into measurable end-user benefit and outstanding sound experiences.

Working at the intersection of audiology, signal processing, deep learning and system integration, you will turn strategy into execution, guide innovation from early concepts through to productization, and bring together experts across R&D and Marketing. More about the role

  • Own and drive the end-to-end hearing performance of Sonova’s algorithmic innovations, ensuring industry-leading end-user benefit and outstanding sound experience.
  • Lead, develop and empower a team of hearing performance engineers, creating clear priorities, strong ownership and a culture of technical excellence.
  • Shape new hearing functions, algorithms and features from early ideation and prototyping through development, verification and productization.
  • Drive evidence-based decisions by leading technical measurements, performance evaluations and testing, while identifying key performance gaps and opportunities for differentiation.
  • Partner closely with Signal Processing, Deep Learning, Audiological Innovation, Controller Software, Marketing and other R&D domains to translate innovation into high-performing products.
  • Translate strategy and functional roadmaps into clear, achievable team objectives, balancing innovation, end-user benefit, quality, scalability, resources and timelines.
  • Continuously advance development practices, tools and infrastructure, including the use of AI technologies, while ensuring compliance with R&D processes, quality standards and regulatory expectations.

More about you

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Electrical Engineerig, Physics, , Acoustics, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related scientific or technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in sound processing, engineering, or MedTech R&D, combined with significant senior technical or functional leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of leading people, complex technical delivery and cross-functional collaboration in an international, multi-site environment.
  • Ability to connect scientific and technical expertise with user needs and business priorities.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with the confidence to make decisions, manage trade-offs and create clarity in complex or uncertain environments.
  • Collaborative and empowering leadership style, with strong communication skills and a passion for developing people, building capabilities and driving technological change.
  • Fluent English; German and experience with medical device regulations, validation frameworks or data-driven development environments are an advantage.
