Tasks:

• Leading the BENLUKIE legal team within the broader global Group Legal department, with overall responsibility for the in-house legal function for all countries across the Cluster. The team currently consists of 6 experienced lawyers and one support staff located in the United Kingdom, Belgium and the Netherlands.
• Overseeing the provision of high-quality legal advice and support to commercial and operational business units across the BENLUKIE Cluster, with a particular focus on transportation, logistics, commercial, and contract law.
• Acting as the primary legal business partner for the BENLUKIE Cluster, serving as the key point of contact for legal matters involving stakeholders at country, cluster, regional, and global levels, as well as customers and external stakeholders.
• Leading the review, drafting, negotiation, and management of customer, supplier, and other commercial agreements in support of business growth and operational objectives.
• Providing strategic legal guidance on disputes, claims, litigation, and other contentious matters, ensuring appropriate risk assessment and resolution strategies.
• Managing the engagement, coordination, and supervision of external legal counsel where required, in close collaboration with business leadership.
• Representing the legal function in interactions with governmental, regulatory, and industry authorities across the BENLUKIE Cluster.
• Driving compliance with DSV's policies, governance frameworks, and risk management standards, while ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
• Assuming overall responsibility for legal reporting and governance matters relating to the BENLUKIE Cluster within the DSV Group.
• Promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the legal team, supporting the professional development and succession planning of team members.
• Contributing to regional and global legal initiatives, projects, and transformation programs, ensuring alignment between the legal function and broader business objectives.

You bring

• Have at least 8-10 years of post-qualification, in-house legal experience in an international setting, preferably within a global freight forwarding, transportation, and/or logistics organization;
• Be professionally familiar with both common law and civil law legal systems;
• Possess substantive knowledge and expertise in transportation and logistics law, commercial and contract law and/or corporate law;
• Have proven leadership experience, including a minimum of 2 years managing legal professionals within a large multinational corporate environment;
• Be a collaborative and solutions-oriented professional with a positive and proactive approach towards team leadership and stakeholder engagement;
• Command a strong leadership presence, sound judgment, decisiveness, and the ability to influence and drive outcomes effectively; and
• Be fluent in English at a professional legal level (written and spoken), and ideally one or more languages spoken within the BENLUKIE Cluster (especially Dutch/Flemish).
