Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 14 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.
• 5 years of experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications

• 10 years in public affairs, political campaigns, communications, or government, with 3 years managing and mentoring talent.
• Deep knowledge of Indonesia’s political system, legislative processes, regulatory landscape, and key government decision-makers.
• Proven track record leading high-level government advocacy and building effective coalitions across industry, academia, and civil society.
• Demonstrated success advising senior leadership and driving consensus across matrixed Legal, Communications, Engineering, and Product teams.
• Exceptional strategic communication and negotiation abilities, with full professional fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia.

As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. As the Government Affairs and Public Policy Senior Manager for Indonesia, you will lead Google's engagement with the Indonesian government and key stakeholders. You will be responsible for setting clear strategic priorities and executing government affairs and public policy initiatives that support Google's business goals and values. You will be leading key policy campaigns across areas such as, but not limited to, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, anti-scams and fraud, content regulation, and competition. You will manage, mentor and develop a small, high-performing team of public policy professionals. You will be involved in building and nurturing strong relationships with industry partners, non-profit organizations, academics, and other allies. You will foster a collaborative team culture, guide your team in monitoring and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments, and provide expert leadership during regulatory tests or crises to safeguard Google's interests.

Responsibilities

• Represent Google at the highest levels of policy-making in Indonesia, building external engagement plans and partnering with executives on high-stakes government engagements.
• Formulate and execute comprehensive public policy strategies aligned with business goals, advocating for Google’s interests across AI, cybersecurity, content regulation, anti-fraud, and competition.
• Cultivate a robust network of industry associations, civil society groups, academics, and third-party allies to advance open internet policies and user-focused digital frameworks.
• Anticipate and analyze legislative developments to deliver actionable business impact assessments, guiding leadership through regulatory ambiguity and critical crisis situations.
• Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing public policy team, setting strategic priorities, managing resources, and cultivating a culture focused on career development and impact.
