Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.
The Senior Event Manager contributes to the overall success of the Global Events team by leading the strategic planning and end-to-end delivery of complex, high-profile events that advance the Bank’s business objectives. Under the direction of the Director, Global Event Management, the incumbent serves as a trusted advisor to Business Lines and Corporate Functions, translating objectives into integrated event strategies, project plans, budgets, governance, and measurable outcomes. The role leads cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver programs on time, on budget, and in accordance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
These events are highly visible and involve clients, business partners, and senior executives. The individual must demonstrate strong program leadership, sound judgment, financial acumen, stakeholder management, and operational discipline. Success requires the ability to manage multiple workstreams, anticipate and mitigate risk, direct vendors and event teams, resolve issues under pressure, and represent the organization with professionalism, courtesy, and integrity. The role also champions innovation, continuous improvement, and attendee-centred experiences while operating within the Bank’s regulatory and risk framework.
o Translate business objectives into clear event strategies, success measures, project plans, timelines, governance, and delivery requirements.
o Lead the full event lifecycle from intake and scoping through planning, production, on-site execution, financial reconciliation, and post-event evaluation.
o Direct multiple concurrent workstreams, dependencies, and decision points to ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope, and to a consistently high standard.
o Develop integrated event plans covering agenda, attendee journey, venue, production, technology, registration, communications, hospitality, security, accessibility, and contingency planning.
o Establish and track objectives, key performance indicators, attendee feedback, and post-event insights to demonstrate impact and improve future programs.
o Champion innovation and sustainable event practices where they improve business outcomes, attendee experience, operational efficiency, or value.
o Serve as the primary Global Events contact for senior internal clients, building trusted relationships and maintaining alignment on objectives, audience, scope, budget, risks, and expected outcomes.
o Lead stakeholder briefings, recommendations, decision meetings, and status updates, presenting clear options, trade-offs, and rationale.
o Provide strategic counsel on event format, agenda, content, guest experience, venue, production, and delivery approach based on business need.
o Manage expectations and scope changes, clearly communicating budget, timing, resource, and risk implications.
o Identify emerging issues and decisions early, escalate appropriately, and lead collaborative resolution with clients, partners, and vendors.
o Prepare executive-ready event briefs, approvals, run-of-show materials, and post-event reports.
o Lead event delivery teams of three or more, assigning accountabilities, setting priorities, coaching team members, and ensuring coordinated execution across all workstreams.
o Manage a portfolio of simultaneous events, balancing capacity, complexity, deadlines, stakeholder needs, and enterprise priorities.
o Build, manage, forecast, and reconcile complex event budgets; monitor commitments and actuals; obtain approvals; and recommend trade-offs that protect value and outcomes.
o Lead venue and vendor sourcing, selection, negotiation, onboarding, performance management, and issue resolution in partnership with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and risk partners.
o Review complex contracts and ensure third-party risk management, procurement, expense policy, security, accessibility, health and safety, and regulatory requirements are addressed.
o Develop contingency and escalation plans and oversee on-site operations, including production, registration, hospitality, transportation, staffing, security, and executive or VIP requirements.
o Conduct post-event debriefs, assess vendor and program performance, document lessons learned, and implement improvements across future events.
o Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
o Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
o Champions a high-performance environment and demonstrates a commitment to Scotiabank’s values: accountability, passion, integrity and respect. Delivers results in accordance with Scotiabank’s behavioural competencies. Creates an inclusive team culture and an environment where team members hear, share, and appreciate diverse perspectives.
o Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates and models the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
o Creates an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
