Job Description

Senior Manager for Product Take Back

Description -

Global Take Back Compliance Senior Manager

The Global Take Back Compliance team, within the Returns and Takeback Operations organization, enables HP to meet worldwide extended producer responsibility and end-of-life product obligations. The team translates evolving environmental regulations into practical requirements, manages registrations and producer responsibility organization relationships, oversees data and reporting controls, coordinates fee and invoice governance, and supports compliant market access for HP hardware, printing supplies, batteries, and packaging.

We are seeking a Global Take Back Compliance Senior Manager to lead HP’s worldwide take-back compliance organization and ensure that Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulatory obligations are implemented accurately, consistently, and efficiently across regions. The role combines people leadership, regulatory program management, data and financial governance, operational risk management, and cross-functional influence.

The manager will set the global compliance strategy, develop a resilient and high-performing team, and maintain an effective control environment covering regulatory interpretation, registrations, declarations, audits, fees, contracts, purchase orders, and invoices. The successful candidate will partner with Legal, Government Affairs, Finance, Tax, Supply Chain, Sustainability, business units, market teams, data owners, and external compliance schemes to protect market access and manage cost and reputational risk. The role requires equal comfort with strategic direction, detailed operational execution, complex escalations, and executive communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a geographically dispersed team responsible for global take-back compliance reporting and operational execution.
  • Define the global compliance strategy, operating model, priorities, controls, performance indicators (KPIs), and continuous-improvement roadmap.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and translate new or changing extended producer responsibility requirements into clear business, system, data, and process actions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate registrations, declarations, reports, payments, and evidence for hardware, printing supplies, batteries, packaging, and other in-scope product categories.
  • Maintain strong governance over compliance data, including source ownership, validation, reconciliation, issue resolution, documentation, and audit trails.
  • Own readiness for regulatory, producer responsibility organization, and internal audits; lead root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and sustainable remediation of findings.
  • Oversee compliance-related financial processes, including forecasting, visible or eco-fees, scheme charges, contracts, purchase orders, invoices, accruals, and cost optimization.
  • Partner with Legal, Government Affairs, Finance, Tax, Sustainability, Supply Chain, IT, regional teams, and business units to align accountabilities and secure timely decisions.
  • Represent Take Back Compliance with senior stakeholders and external partners, communicating complex risks, options, and recommendations in concise business terms.
  • Lead critical escalations and incidents calmly, protecting compliance, market access, business continuity, and HP’s reputation.
  • Drive process standardization, AI and automation, digital enablement, and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve cycle time, and scale global execution.
  • Build organizational resilience through succession planning, documented procedures, cross-training, and effective management of internal and external resources.

Skills

  • Global people leadership experience with the ability to lead, develop, and inspire distributed teams across regions, cultures, and functions.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental compliance and extended producer responsibility frameworks; experience with electronics, batteries, packaging, or printing supplies is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex global programs, regulatory deadlines, audits, competing priorities, and high-impact escalations.
  • Strong analytical and control mindset, with experience governing large data sets, reconciliations, reporting accuracy, evidence, and corrective actions.
  • Financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, fee management, contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and supplier governance.
  • Executive communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into concise insights, decisions, risks, and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, manage external partners, resolve operational escalations, and align teams around measurable outcomes.
  • Continuous improvement and digital transformation mindset, including experience with process excellence, analytics, automation, governance, and scalable operating models.
