Role Purpose The position entails full ownership of direct and indirect tax compliance, planning, and accounting duties for Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (Telecel Ghana). The incumbent ensures strict adherence to Ghanaian tax legislation, cultivates strong partnerships with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and optimizes the corporate tax stance regarding various levies such as the Communications Service Tax (CST) and Value Added Tax (VAT). Additionally, the role involves formulating and executing corporate tax and transfer pricing frameworks alongside the overarching organizational tax strategy. This role is also responsible for governance, compliance, and internal control systems, including the creation, rollout, and oversight of financial reporting policies to meet statutory, legal, regulatory, and Group mandates. The manager will sustain a robust control environment and effectively manage reporting, compliance, and financial risks by continuously monitoring and refining relevant policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Statutory Reporting & Audit Leadership: Serve as the lead for internal and external audits, overseeing the preparation and final sign-off of statutory financial statements for Telecel and all subsidiaries. Ensure the integrity of the General Ledger and the accuracy of all financial reporting. Financial Controls & Accounting Excellence: Guarantee the precision of balance sheet reconciliations and design, implement, and refine financial controls. Demonstrate advanced proficiency in accounting standards, financial statement interpretation, and complex bookkeeping calculations. Tax Compliance & Filings: Orchestrate the timely and accurate preparation, review, and submission of all local tax returns, covering Corporate Income Tax (CIT), VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), VAT Withholding, and Communications Service Tax (CST). Tax Audit Management: Act as the primary liaison with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), managing audit processes, addressing inquiries, and resolving disputes to minimize financial exposure. Tax Strategy & Advisory: Identify and execute tax planning initiatives to optimize liabilities while maintaining full compliance with Ghanaian regulations. Transfer Pricing Oversight: Supervise local transfer pricing documentation and compliance, ensuring cross-border transactions align with both local laws and international standards. Tax Reporting & Forecasting: Generate accurate monthly and quarterly tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and cash flow forecasts. Ensure correct accounting entries for tax postings within reporting and budgeting cycles. Regulatory Monitoring: Track changes in Ghanaian fiscal policies, national budgets, and amended tax acts to evaluate their impact on the telecommunications sector. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement: Mentor the tax team to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Maintain strong relationships with the GRA and contribute to enhancing financial process controls and transaction accuracy. Executive Support: Assist the Finance Director with any additional tax-related assignments as needed. Requirements Who We Are Looking For Required Qualifications & Experience A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Active professional certification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAG, or CITG). At least 6–8 years of post-qualification tax experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a management role. Demonstrated history of managing taxes within the telecommunications sector, major technology firms, or Big 4 accounting firms with a focus on telecom clients. Solid working knowledge of regulations and operations within the Telecommunications and Financial Services industries.
