Senior Manager – Finance Transformation – Brisbane

The opportunity

As a Senior Manager in the Finance Consulting team, you will play a pivotal role in helping clients navigate complex, time-critical finance challenges while leading large-scale finance transformation programmes and driving market growth opportunities.

You will own delivery across complex, multi-workstream engagements, partnering directly with CFOs, Finance Directors, COOs and executive leadership teams to provide strategic judgement, commercial insight, and pragmatic solutions. You will be accountable for delivery outcomes, client relationships, commercial performance, and practice growth while ensuring clear and measurable business outcomes are delivered.

Your work will span strategic, operational, and digital finance transformation, including the design and implementation of complex future-state finance operating models, shared services and global business services (GBS) models, enterprise performance improvement, finance technology transformation, and the integration of Agentic AI into Finance functions.

In addition to client delivery, you will play a key role in driving sales, leading pursuits, developing client relationships, and shaping go-to-market initiatives across Finance Consulting's priority sectors and accounts.

This role is based in Meanjin (Brisbane) and offers the opportunity to sit at the centre of client leadership, commercial growth, delivery excellence, and people leadership within one of the world's leading professional services firms.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead complex finance transformation programmes involving finance strategy, digital transformation, process optimisation, enterprise performance improvement, future-state operating model design, and the implementation of enabling technologies such as ERP (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics), EPM, AI, RPA, and Power BI.
  • Engage directly with CFOs, Finance Directors, COOs, and executive stakeholders, leading strategic discussions, shaping transformation agendas, and clearly articulating implications, trade-offs, business value, and implementation pathways.
  • Drive business development and sales activities, including opportunity identification, proposal leadership, solution design, account development, and participation in go-to-market campaigns across priority sectors.
  • Lead complex operating model engagements across finance functions, including FP&A, Record-to-Report, Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, shared services, GBS, and finance capability transformation.
  • Build and maintain trusted client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand EY's impact across client organisations and broader transformation portfolios.
  • Lead and facilitate executive-level workshops and discussions, confidently managing competing stakeholder priorities and driving clear, actionable decisions.
  • Translate complex financial, operational, and organisational challenges into structured options, business cases, strategic recommendations, and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead, coach, and develop high-performing consulting teams, providing career development, mentoring, and technical leadership while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Actively manage delivery quality, risk, scope, priorities, and engagement economics while balancing client expectations with commercial discipline.

Skills and attributes for success

  • 10–15+ years of experience in finance transformation, consulting, finance strategy, operating model design, enterprise performance improvement, or large-scale business transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex finance transformation programmes across multiple sectors, including government, infrastructure, energy, consumer, telecommunications, financial services, healthcare, or industrial sectors.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing finance operating models, shared services, GBS models, finance process transformation, and enterprise performance management capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of core finance functions including FP&A, Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Costing, Performance Management, and Financial Reporting
  • Proven experience building client relationships, leading proposals, originating opportunities, and contributing to revenue growth within a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience managing engagement economics, project scope, delivery risk, and client outcomes.
  • Experience working with technologies such as SAP, Microsoft, BlackLine, Tagetik, Anaplan, Power BI, RPA, AI, and data-driven finance solutions
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • One of the sectors we work with is the Australian Federal Government and as such Australian Citizenship is preferred.

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Relevant qualifications such as CA, CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent.
