PURPOSE
- This role is part of the Finance Cloud team and is responsible for providing deep technical expertise and hands‑on leadership in the implementation of Finance Cloud platforms supporting IFRS 17, IFRS 9, and other group finance initiatives.
- The role acts as a technical authority and specialist, focusing on end‑to‑end solution design, complex implementation, and technical assurance across the full technology stack used for Finance Cloud. It bridges finance business requirements and technical execution, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, secure, and compliant with regulatory and enterprise standards.
- In support of Finance Cloud transformation, the role drives cloud adoption, standardisation, and automation, and plays a key role in introducing and governing agentic AI capabilities to improve efficiency, insight, and operational effectiveness within finance processes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Finance Cloud Technical Delivery
- Drive the technical implementation of Finance Cloud solutions across Group and local markets.
- Own technical outcomes from solution design through build, rollout, and stabilisation.
- Translate complex finance and accounting requirements into scalable, auditable technical solutions.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex or high‑risk Finance Cloud initiatives.
Full‑Stack Technical Specialism
- Provide deep technical expertise across the full Finance Cloud technology stack, including:
- Finance applications and services
- Integrations, interfaces, and APIs
- Finance data platforms and reporting solutions
- Cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform services
- Review complex implementations and cross‑stack trade‑offs, balancing performance, resilience, cost, and control.
- Resolve technically complex issues requiring holistic understanding of end‑to‑end finance systems.
Solution Design & Architecture Governance
- Define, review, and validate end‑to‑end solution designs for Finance Cloud platforms.
- Drive cloud engineering concepts and standard architecture patterns into Finance Cloud implementations.
- Ensure alignment with Group Technology standards across application, infrastructure, data, and security domains.
- Review and endorse significant technical design decisions and architectural changes.
Delivery Assurance, Risk & Quality
- Review technical delivery artefacts, implementation readiness, and non‑functional requirements.
- Identify technical and operational risks early and drive mitigation actions through solution design.
- Ensure Finance Cloud solutions meet expectations for performance, resilience, security, auditability, and operational support.
AI & Agentic Automation Enablement
- Identify and assess opportunities to apply agentic AI and intelligent automation within Finance Cloud use cases, such as: Reconciliation and exception handling. Intelligent workflow orchestration. Reporting, analytics, and data quality monitoring. Finance operational enablement
- Define enterprise‑grade patterns for safely integrating AI agents with finance systems and data.
- Ensure AI solutions are explainable, traceable, auditable, and aligned with governance and regulatory requirements.
Technical Guidance & Specialist Oversight
- Provide technical guidance and quality review for specialist contractors supporting Finance Cloud implementation.
- Focus on technical correctness, design quality, and consistency
Leadership role played
- Collaborate with 10 LBU’s stakeholders up to Head of IT to drive collaborative execution
- Manage cross-functional stakeholders and resources to deliver the Finance Cloud to support IFRS 17, IFRS 9 and other finance initiatives
- Demonstrate the ability to influence stakeholders to buy in technical advice and align on the technical outcome
- Ensure efficient communication and coordination with peer Group Technology teams across application, infrastructure and security on the solution roadmap, design, and implementation
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of experience in technology delivery, system engineering, or solution design within financial services, insurance, or other regulated environments
- Proven experience delivering and supporting Finance Core Systems, such as General Ledger, Sub‑ledger, IFRS 17 engines, reconciliation platforms, reporting pipelines, or finance data platforms.
- Strong hands‑on experience with cloud‑based finance platforms and modern engineering practices, preferably on AWS‑based architectures
- Demonstrated experience acting as a technical SME, providing solution design input, engineering guidance, and problem resolution for complex finance systems.
- Solid understanding of IFRS 17 / IFRS 9 concepts from a systems and data perspective, including calculation flows, reconciliation, lineage, and audit requirements.
- Experience designing or implementing AI, analytics, or automation solutions in enterprise platforms (e.g. rule‑based automation, anomaly detection, assisted reconciliation, reporting augmentation, or AI‑assisted user support).
- Exposure to data pipelines, system integrations, APIs, and finance data models supporting regulatory and management reporting.
- Experience working closely with Finance users, delivery leads, architects, data teams, and vendors in multi‑stakeholder delivery environments.
- Familiarity with secure development practices, change control, and operational readiness in production finance systems.
- Prior experience supporting post go‑live operations, incident analysis, defect remediation, and continuous improvement for business‑critical systems.
KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Strong knowledge of Finance Core Systems and finance processes, including General Ledger, Sub‑ledger, IFRS 17 / IFRS 9 processing, reconciliation, closing, and financial reporting.
- Solid understanding of regulatory and audit requirements for finance platforms, including data accuracy, lineage, reconciliation, and control evidence.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud‑based architectures, preferably AWS, including security, resilience, scalability, and cost‑efficient design.
- Strong technical expertise in system integration and data engineering, including APIs, batch processing, ETL/ELT pipelines, finance data models, and end‑to‑end data flows.
- Ability to design, build, and troubleshoot data lineage, validation, reconciliation, and exception handling across complex finance architectures.
- Working knowledge of AI, analytics, and automation applied to finance use cases such as reconciliation support, anomaly detection, reporting augmentation, and user enablement.
- Understanding of AI governance principles, including data quality, explainability, access control, privacy, and auditability.
- Experience across the full delivery lifecycle, from solution design and build through testing, deployment, and production support.
- Strong ability to communicate technical, data, and AI concepts clearly to Finance and non‑technical stakeholders.
